For decades, young Indians were told that success meant heading west. Wealth, global recognition, and a career on the international stage could only be earned by leaving home for the United States. Silicon Valley became the promised land, Wall Street the pinnacle of ambition, and the H1-B visa the golden ticket. Families built dreams around it, students tailored their education for it, and India’s brightest minds set their sights on crossing oceans.
But now, that dream faces a harsh reality. President Donald Trump has imposed a staggering $100,000 fee on new H1-B visas, a barrier so steep it threatens to shut the door for millions of skilled professionals. For Indian IT workers, it may mark the end of an era.

To many foreigners, “the American Dream” means plunder.
Screw them. When I was an IT consultant for the NJ State Judiciary, half of the workers were paid consultants or contractors and about 2/3 of those were foreigners, mainly Indian. Some of them had access to “live data”. Data from several courts. Just a great security system. Not.
Might want to reconsider the 19th Amendment too.
“..a barrier so steep it threatens to shut the door for millions of skilled professionals...”. As if flooding this country with millions of foreigners, skilled or not, is not a threat to Americans on many, many levels... How about allowing millions of skilled Chinese professionals come to India and live and work there pursuing their Indian dream? Would it be OK for morons at India Today...?
Start your own scam center by in India. The Indian Dream.
To some extent, a foreigner that “achieves their American dream” has taken that dream from an American.
Sickening. They need to create their own dream. The Mumbai Dream.
ANYONE who has been to and seen India KNOWS why the young smart ones want to get out.
The “American Dream” for Indians is to make a lot of money and then go back to India with it.
Even the Chinese are angry about their Dear Leader’s plans to give K visas to Indian locusts.
India is swarming all over the world. Time to stop it.
Go home! Go back to riding on the roofs of trains.
Speaking of obsessions ….
If they’re the best & brightest, why aren’t Modi’s minsters moving heaven & earth to get them to return?
Why does it seem to me that for the last two or three weeks FR has been deluged with stories about citizens from India being worried about having to go back to their home country? How many of these stories do we need to read about? The H1-B visa program wasn’t created as a public works project to employ Indian citizens, and I am sick and tired of hearing complaints about the program being returned to what it’s original intention was - which was to fill a very small number of jobs that few or no Americans were qualified to do, with foreign workers here on temporary visas. Unfortunately, the program was surreptitiously modified into a device for detaining cheaper labor across a wide variety of industries, all at the expense of American workers who were fully qualified to fill the jobs in question.
Enough with the bellyaching from foreigners about this, particularly the Indians.
“ Weird. Almost like they are actually promoting the colonization of America.”

Well, India is now the country with the world‘s largest population, and they are pulling further away from China every single day. Historically, countries with very large populations do tend to colonize other nations, and India is certainly no different. Oh, they don’t call it colonization, but if it walks like a duck….
They come here and vote left and take advantage our economy and then some lecture us or control our info flow like Google
And are pretty rude in general
I’ll try to be more open minded but not my favorite immigrant group like I see Vietnamese or most Cubans
Stay home and make India great again! 😏
In days of yore the 1% would go around the globe stripping continents of their metals, minerals, and natural resources to profit only themselves. Today while continuing that enterprise, the 1% also strip continents of their people and the crumbs they allow to fall from their table are becoming nonexistent.
There’s going to be a lot more whining from the Indians and the H1B pimps. Especially after the H1B CEOs respond to the Senate Judiciary Committee inquiries on Friday.
