“On behalf of AMC Theatres and the entire theatrical exhibition industry, I extend our sincerest appreciation to the iconic Taylor Swift for bringing her brilliance and magic to movie theatres this weekend,” AMC’s CEO Adam Aron said in a statement. “Her vision to add a cinematic element to her incredible album debut was nothing less than a triumph.”
Her newest theatrical effort, “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” is dancing to the top of box office charts with $33 million over the weekend. The “cinematic experience,” as the project has been dubbed, collected another $13 million at the international box office for a global total of $46 million.
Elsewhere at the box office, audiences couldn’t smell what the Rock was cooking. This weekend’s other newcomer, Dwayne Johnson’s R-rated sports drama “The Smashing Machine,” cratered in third place with $6 million from 3,345 venues.
Second place was Leonardo DiCaprio’s comedic action epic “One Battle After Another” with $10.3 million from 3,634 theaters, declining 53% from its debut. So far, the film has earned $41 million in North America and $101.7 million globally. On one hand, it’s officially the highest-grossing film of director Paul Thomas Anderson’s career, overtaking 2007’s Western “There Will Be Blood” ($76.4 million globally). On the other, “One Battle” cost above $130 million to produce and doesn’t seem to have the staying power needed to justify its outsized budget.

Maybe when she’s a trillionaire, she’ll decide to be a mother and have a family.
That’s because it’s not music. It’s a manufactured product.
I think her music video is better than most movies being churned out by Hollywood these days.
She’s obviously well read herself, so kudos to her for elevating pop music from the muck it’s been in for some time.
Until then, see if you can find the HBO documentary that inspired it. It's excellent.

Enjoyed that....with the sound off.
Yeah not fond of the filler trend (ahem especially among some high profile conservative women who are otherwise perfectly attractive and camera ready to begin with 🤦🏻♀️) but Swift seems to be doing it tastefully (or less invasively?) because her face has has had the swelling effect in events past, and then once it settles she looks fine and natural again. To each their own.

Hollyweird, you can try to spin that all you want.
Swift is making some money.
You’re losing your shirts.
She also broke record and vinyl sales records this weekend. Most of which were set by herself prior LoL.
Rock puts on wig and the studio promotes it as the “performance” of his career.
Rock may be a movie star but he’s no actor.
My wife and I went to see it last week and if I ever run into Leo, I’d ask for my money and time back. I imagine a lot of ANTIFA watch it while m@sterb@ting.
Early October is a bit of a dead zone. Summer blockbuster season is over. Halloween horror isn’t revved up yet. Oscar bait releases are still a month or 2 out. Not to mention of course non-movie stuff is in high gear (MLB playoffs, the heart of the college and pro football seasons). It’s one of those self fulfilling prophecies, nobody goes to the movies this time of year, so Hollywood dumps movies they think won’t make money, and then nobody goes to see them. Summer used to be that way until Jaws and Star Wars rewrote the calendar.
Halloween is coming and she has her mask on...
