The “emergency” special session called by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham ended this week with all five Democrat-sponsored bills passed, some on party-line votes. However, the real headline was the deep partisan divide and the governor’s furious reaction to Republicans for opposing her vaccine legislation.
The two-day session, which cost taxpayers an estimated $250,000, was ostensibly meant to offset federal funding cuts. But much of the time was consumed by heated exchanges over decorum and the content of the Democrats’ agenda, which Republicans said was drafted in secret and offered little room for participation.
House Minority Leader Gail Armstrong (R-Magdalena) told reporters, “We were shut down in committee. We weren’t brought to the table. We didn’t know the bills that were coming. We got them Sunday night, and then they changed while we were in caucus on Wednesday morning.”
Despite the discord, Democrats passed all five bills: House Bill 1, appropriating $162 million in spending; House Bill 2, expanding subsidized insurance coverage; Senate Bill 1, broadening rural-health grants; Senate Bill 2, restoring Metro Court jurisdiction in competency cases; and Senate Bill 3, a controversial rewrite of the state’s vaccine-policy framework.
Senate Bill 3 removes the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices from New Mexico’s vaccination process, allowing the Department of Health (DOH) to instead base requirements on the American Academy of Pediatrics and other medical groups. It also mandates vaccinations for all licensed childcare and early childhood programs. The bill failed to obtain a two-thirds emergency clause, meaning it will not take effect until December 31.
In a statement issued from her office, Gov. Lujan Grisham lashed out at Republicans for the delay, claiming they “voted on a straight party line to restrict access to COVID-19 vaccines for children in New Mexico for 90 days.”

In addition to the medical aspects, Dems spent time condemning ICE as the KKK and calling Trump as fascist.
Democrats - Mo’ Money! Mo’ Money! Mo’ Money!

MLG, AKA Michelle Lujan Grisham, is the radical leftwing NM governor who, together with the rest of NM Dems, have a severe case of TDS than extends to any action taken by his administration.
From a scientific and medical perspective no children should be receiving any mRNA ‘vaccine’. They are in no danger from covid and the risk of side effects from the jab is too great. But unfortunately too many of our politicians are bought out by big pharma.
It’s all been downhill since Gary Johnson left office. We moved away during the Bill Richardson governorship, and I think we timed it pretty well.
The left seeks the destruction of children prebirth and post birth. Evil *******
You’re tougher than I am. I couldn’t stay there. Jail time for non compliance?
Good for them!
Kids don't need it. They never needed it.
Some vaccines like Polio, Measles and Shingles are valuable for almost everyone’s health. The Covid-19 vaccines for many recipients proved to be harmful but thanks to Joe Birdbrain’s administration millions of folks were force to take them or took them out of precaution and suffered the consequences to their health but at least the CEO’s of the large pharma companies became billionaires because of that.
If Trump said the sun rises in the east, they'd change the compass points on the map to make it rise in the west.
They have it really, really bad.
I’m four miles from the Texas border in a city and county with little unemployment, new homes and schools being built, vocational education thriving and new businesses opening. Major hospitals in Texas are within an hours drive. Of course the Dems in ABQ and Santa Fe hate us except for the money the oil and gas industry provides to the state coffers (35-40%). Lea County produces over one million BPD of oil and NM is second highest producer in the continental US with over 17% of domestic oil output.
Biggest problem from my standpoint is a lot of workers speak Spanish and no doubt a big number are illegals. ICE will eventually get around to them but in the meantime, no major crime sh!t-holes like ABQ and Espanola.
Last time I was in ABQ, I had to have a Walmart associate open a shelf so I could purchase Tide detergent! It’s that bad up there, and the NM National Guard works with the APD and now in Espanola too. This week is Balloon Fiesta and we will hear of at least one participant who will have his balloon and/or trailer stolen, no matter how good they believe it’s protected.
Roger that. Went so long ago it was at the fairgrounds. 🤗
New Mexico needs to be put on notice that if any kids die from the forced genetic treatments for CoVID, the members of the State Assembly who voted to implement the program shall be charged with 1st Degree murder with special circumstances, meriting the death sentence.
She has to earn her Pfizer bribes or they’ll dry up.
I never thought I’d see a more corrupt governor than Bill Richardson. I was wrong.
Sadly they pass the laws, own the state police, and own prosecutors.
Not going to happen.
We just ignore all the mandates at our house and the school doesn’t care. Kick us out, my last daughter is currently on track to be valedictorian. Only kid that keeps getting “5” on all the AP exams and is a top track star.
