I also miss Radio Shack.

Me too. I taught physics for many years. And sometimes I would need a specific resistor for a demonstration, let’s say a 5 ohm one.
If I didn’t have one, I could fill out a school purchase form, then send it up the line. Then I’d get my resistor in about three months.
Or I could go down to my local Radio Shack, and buy a two-pack of 5 ohm resistors for a dollar.
Radio Shack.
Where can we go now to get the cassette player head cleaning fluid with little Q-tips?
Not to mention the DVD rewinders on sale.
They used to be somewhere in the back of the store, I think.
Never found them.

Back when they actually sold electronic parts.
I worked at Radio Shack many years and had quite a bit of RS stock. I had to sell my stock years later. At the time it was the largest retail company in the world.
Alas.

Radio Shack/Tandy should be a business school study in how a chain with a proven formula deviated from what works for trying to grasp what doesn’t work.
Me too. Radio Shack was unique, plus I was a part timer there for a couple years.
Someone should start up a similar store. I’ll bet computer components would sell big.

Me too. When my oldest was a toddler he had a play pen that played music. LOUDLY A Radio Shack rheostat made the sound adjustable for about $4.
I’m sure I could order one from Amazon, but that is not the same as being able to rummage through the parts drawers until you find a part you’re sure you can make work.
