Failed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is trying to manifest her own destiny — insisting this week that she remains a top leader in the Democratic Party, despite November’s devastating loss and perception as a back stabber for shuffling her boss out of the race.
“I was the Democratic nominee for president,” the former vice president told the Wall Street Journal Friday. “I came close to winning. Of course I do.”
Harris – who was in Philadelphia plugging her new book “107 Days” about the 2024 loss to now President Donald Trump, declined to say whether the tour is the start of a political comeback that includes running for president in 2028.
But insiders told the Journal that the book — and critical reaction to it– shows that Harris’ leadership is faltering in the party.
Some longtime supporters told the outlet they are ready to move on from Harris, while more vocal Dems are openly airing their frustrations with Harris’s re-emergence — especially her book, which is critical of ex-President Joe Biden and her pool of choices for a running mate, before settling on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
In her tome, she characterized Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as overly ambitious and ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who is gay, as someone who’d be politically risky running alongside a black woman.
Ashley Etienne, Harris’ former communications director, called the ex-veep’s book a a missed opportunity for not focusing on the Biden administration’s accomplishments and her role in them as the first female vice president.
“I would have advised her to write a different book, one that cements her legacy,” Etienne told The Journal.
Faiz Shakir, who ran Bernie Sanders’s 2020 presidential campaign, said the book affirms concerns people had about Harris.

She’s a special kind of stupid. Truly frightening to think that with a little luck she could have been president.
I may be wrong here but in a technical figurehead sort of way I think she is. Until a new nominee for POTUS in 2028 that is and hey she continues to do a bang up job as far as I can tell. :)
A Fellatio Alger story...
So who is the leader of the Democrats? Obama?
Probably Soros.
Career-wise, she’s following the Dan Quayle model, I believe. Half a dozen Dim governors stand poised to to grab the mantle of leadership. Throw in Mare Pete, a couple of HoR wildcards. Had Kamala not squandered her warchest, she might have been a player.
figure head
lmao
In the absence of anyone else, she may be.
Usually, though, the “party leader” isn’t the losing candidate in the last election. So that would be Schumer, and before him Reid and Pelosi. Jeffries seems more like a puppet or placeholder. Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Kerry — none of them were the party leader after losing the presidential election.
The chaos that is the Democrat party has thousands of leaders, of which Kamala is one. She has fewer followers than Mandami but more than Buttileg.
Currently Stephen A Smith has the most Democrat supporters. Mark Cuban has the 2d most Democrat followers.
Cue the
“I need a VP that’s dumber than me”
Democrat meme 😃😄🤣🤣🤣😛😝😜
She also believes she is OK to drive home. Someone should take her car keys away. But let her keep the Party keys because I want to see her crash that.
Is that sung to the tune of “I want a new drug” by Huey Lewis and the News? lol
Kamala: I cudda been a contenda, I cudda been somebody!
😃😄🤣🤣🤣😁
I don’t think her book sales are going to do her any good in 2028. She’s gonna need JOBU and a sacrifice size bucket of KFC to even get on the ballot.
She has no ambition.
She'll rather retire and live in luxury.
She would have been useful as a puppet in 2024 and that was about it.
