US President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York after blasting world leaders during his speech.
Speaking to reporters before the bilateral talks, Trump hailed Zelenskyy as a courageous leader.
"He’s a brave man, and he’s putting up one hell of a fight," Trump said. "We have about 30 meetings scheduled today, but this is an important one -- and we have great respect for the fight that Ukraine is putting up. It is pretty amazing."

It all reads like that. The more Trump announces a victory is possible for Ukraine, the more money the EU sends to the US to buy weapons. He doesn’t care if the EU has the ECB print it up, as long as the Lockheed, et al price is met — and he may encourage Lockheed to increase price.
Now, as soon as the EU makes clear they want to build their own weapons, one would expect Trump to lose interest in the matter.

Sadly, I disagree, there has been essentially no difference in the position of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump since Trump ambushed Zelinski in the oval office.
They love to threaten and bluster, but the one thing they don’t want is “direct conflict”.
I’m sure you have some brilliant explanation of how Trump and Putin are in complete agreement, but they can’t make a deal, and Trump is arming Ukraine, praising Zelensky and criticizing Putin. Plus sanctions.
It’s really not necessary to agree with Vladimir Putin.
Do you mean backing away from negotiations or from Ukraine? Today’s statements by Trump and Rubio suggests the former instead of the latter.
The good news is that, evidently, Trump has not terminated the delivery of vital American intelligence resources to Ukraine. He has, however, terminated gifts of weapons to Ukraine, even declined to spend appropriated money on weapons for Ukraine, according to my understanding.
Trump will supply weapons to Ukraine at a profit-a bit of hypocrisy from man who repeatedly deplores the loss of life in this war and implies the need to save lives is his only reason for intervention.
To look at Trump's motivations most charitably, I believe Trump is now consciously adding pressure on Putin to bring Russia to the table. But so far we have words and no deeds.

What difference does that make, we are absorbing many costs associated with helping Ukraine and having a group of 31 other countries pay the cost of weapons from our manufacturers, which we are supplying in abundance, is good for us and our military readiness, and Ukraine gets what they need and what we want them to have, it is just an adjustment on billing.
As additional reasons for terminating that support, Trump cited Zelinski's unwillingness to sign a minerals deal that would have profited US.
When shipment of arms to Ukraine can be done at a profit, we send arms to Ukraine. It is hard to square this behavior with repeated professions of concern about the loss of life caused by these arms.
For the record, I applaud sending arms to Ukraine, and setting them at a profit is probably better for us, but let us not deceive ourselves into believing we are acting nobly. Nor should we forget that we impose range restrictions on the use of those weapons that could penetrate effectively deep into Russia.
To convert the Ukraine war into a profit-making enterprise for us is shameful in view of our history of encouraging Ukraine to fight this war with promises of material support that were made formally under color of law.

The goal of the troll has always been to undermine NATO, not maintain it.
Right now and for the last many, many years, long before the invasion, my primary concern is our, our Pacific allies, and the rest of NATO’s, fighting capabilities and readiness, some of the details that are bothering you are things I don’t spend much energy thinking about right now, I see a lot of improvements in so many areas.
