U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter NATO territory, shortly after nations in the Western military alliance condemned Moscow for violating Estonian airspace.
"Yes I do," Trump told reporters when asked about whether he would support such moves.
Trump made the comments to reporters before a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

“Vlad has openly threatened to use nukes”
Openly threatened nukes if we drop bombs on Moscow, or we or NATO openly conduct deep strikes or launch missiles into Russia. That’s kind of an important point. If Russian missiles were hitting in the UK, or in the USA... think we would threaten nukes?
There is a deranged bunch in DC now that truly believe they can conduct a conventional war with Russia, and they will accept defeat and never dare go nuclear.... because, they just wouldn’t dare.
Russia is nowhere near as strong as us conventionally, but we are taking the wrong lesson. Imagine a feeble old man, walking with a cane... a bunch of toughs start shoving him around. He pulls his 38 and tells them to stop... they laugh and keep it up. Because he wouldn’t dare...who would shoot someone for just getting pushed around?
Back someone weak with a fight stopping weapon into a corner, steal from them and humiliate them all you can. And they sometimes mean what they say.
President Trump knows how to handle loaded questions.
Metoo;-)
“ So much for the guy who promised to stop the endless foreign wars.”
Why is that? Because recognized the right of NATO defending one of their own?
>>”So much for the guy who promised to stop the endless foreign wars.”
There are many ways to stop endless foreign wars. One of them is to simply surrender. Fortunately, Trump prefers peace through strength.
All is fair in War.
“Will Putin test this over the US ?”

I wouldn’t want to be a Russian fighter pilot this week! Putin might send me on a most unnecessary and dangerous mission.
Obvious yes. It’s a deliberate provocation and the line needs to be drawn. If one gets shot down, that will end it.
Go Trump !
If they don’t it’s Ukraine II putin can’t swing two wars he’s down for the count on the first one.
Round 2 (or possibly 3, 4 or 5) of the ridiculous “drones attacking Poland” narrative from a few weeks ago.
The rump UK empire in London, and their Brussels/Davos cohorts last, best chance for survival, is to pull the USA back into their schemes.
Meh...it took 11 minutes for NATO to get fighters in place, way too late to prevent anyone with bad intentions from acting.
What, exactly, would these mythical "Putin supporting FReepers" have "their panties tied in a knot" about?
Be specific.
Lol...I’d like to see NATO grow a pair and try it.
Your point about how the news skews what people say is good. It’s very common, even SOP for them.
At the same time, Trump’s message is clear.
Ask the passengers and crew aboard KAL007 about that.
Oh.
You can't.
Russkis shot it down ... then denied they had done it.
Actually, your “quote” is incorrect, and more misleading than the headline. Where did you get that the question was “would you support”? The actual question was:
Reporter: “Mr. President, do you think that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter their airspace?”
President Trump: “Yes, I do.”
Soon after, Trump did qualify that “yes”, with it “depends on the circumstance.”
If the aircraft are carrying a strike package and it was more than just “skirting” a line, then they would likely be downed. Incursions over land or near it are much serious than the airspace incursions that happened last week, where there is only a narrow corridor of international airspace between the Nordic countries and the Baltics.
Not who/what we voted for.
