Here's Everything We Know About President Trump's TikTok Deal With China
Red State ^ | 09/22/2025 | Teri Christoph

President Trump has long signaled his intention to strike a deal with China that would allow Americans to keep scrolling their way through the videos on the popular social media app TikTok, and it looks like that deal may be imminent. The news is likely to be to the relief of countless teenagers and the chagrin of their parents; it's estimated that there are 170 million TikTok users in the United States.

In an interview on Fox News' new The Sunday Briefing, hosted by Peter Doocy, the president revealed "very prominent American people" and "very great patriots" would be involved in the deal that will see operations of the app move from China's ByteDance to a group of U.S. companies, including Oracle and the private-equity firm Silver Lake.

Trump teased some of the finer points of who would be involved in carrying out the deal, telling Doocy, "You know, they’re very well-known people. And Larry Ellison is one of them. He’s involved. He’s a great guy. Michael Dell is involved." The president added, "I hate to tell you this, but a man named Lachlan is involved," referring to Lachlan Murdoch.

Trump told Doocy of his efforts to save TikTok, "I'm a little prejudiced with TikTok because, you know, I did so well with the young voter." The president had previously credited the late Charlie Kirk with getting him onto the app during the 2024 presidential race, remembering, "Charlie was very much in favor of TikTok; he liked TikTok. He said, you know, ‘You should use it.’"

The specifics of the deal are coming into focus, with Oracle taking the lead in securing the data of U.S. users.

Under the deal, TikTok operations will be moved into a joint venture that will be based in the US, with Oracle – co-founded by billionaire Trump ally Larry Ellison – serving as the app’s security provider.

Existing investors and new American backers like Oracle and private-equity firm Silver Lake will together own about 80% of the company – sinking Chinese parent ByteDance’s stake to less than 20%.

In her Monday briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offered additional details on what users can expect once the deal is signed.

Under the terms of this deal, TikTok will be owned by a majority of American investors and controlled by a board of directors with extensive national security and cyber security credentials. In partnership with the U.S. government, Oracle will serve as TikTok's trusted security advisor, and they will independently monitor the safety and data security of all U.S. user data on TikTok's platform.

American's data will be stored securely in the United States without access from China. All U.S. data will be stored on servers operated by Oracle in the United States, protected from surveillance or interference by foreign adversaries.

And the algorithm -- I know this is a question many of you have -- will be secured, retrained, and operated in the United States, outside of ByteDance's control. TikTok will remain globally interoperable, meaning TikTok users in the U.S. will be able to see videos posted by users in other countries and vice versa.

Leavitt said while she didn't have specific numbers on the cost of procuring the deal, the administration estimated that businesses using TikTok would generate as much at $178 billion "in economic activity within the U.S. over the next four years."

The TikTok deal is expected to be signed later this week.

I do not use TikTok, but my wife does.
The cute animal videos keep her happy, and she likes to try the recipes (mixed success, but hey, she's cooking!).
For all of these reasons, I hope that they reach a deal.
I'm just trying to keep the wife happy.

He’s an utter fool if he thinks kids are going to be happy with the Larry Ellison and Fox News version of TikTok. Handing it over to big tech is it going to kill it. It was an absolute hotbed of Maga and good conservative wholesome channels. It won’t be any better than Facebook or Instagram now.

Screw that… Ellison and Oracle and Fox? It’ll be a CIA FBI Mossad playground. Walk away

Yeah, honestly this is why the US gov't has been screaming about it and wanting to take it over.
It is the one major social media outlet not under the control of the US I.C., and that drives them NUTS.

I started using it in early 2024. The only reason I got an account was to see exactly what the big panic was about. It’s the best social media experience I’ve ever had. Even better than ex and one big sense. X is centered around the comments, shock and quarreling.
On TikTok it learns very quickly what you like and what you don’t. No time at all I was flooded with 10 minute clips of sermons from ministers I had never heard of, interesting home repair tips, interesting gardening tips, cool cooking techniques for the grill and smoker. I was flooded with conservative commentary, stories of American history that were flattering, inspiring stories of people who used to be admired and good examples. Great movie and book suggestions, travel destinations that I didn’t know anything about.

The main problem I can see is that it could be very addicting. As far as porn, erotic material, filthy music etc., a parent can easily figure that out if their kid is looking at it. The kid cannot clear their history. There’s something called the TikTok challenge, if the parent opens the kids phone, click through the first 10 recommended videos, and you will see exactly what the kid is searching. No arguing.

The only problem with TikTok is that the FBI could not get a desk in their headquarters and make decisions as to what needed to be removed, or what needed to be pushed. Also people critical of the Israelis war were not censored. Tel Aviv was furious. So now it’s going to get turned over to the right people and their view. It’s a superior product, and Trump is in left field if he thinks the kids are going to be happy with oral Cole and Larry Ellison taking it over.

His hands are pretty much tied by the law that Tom cotton and other neocons jam through Congress after Zuckerberg ran screaming to them because TikTok was kicking their ass. But this is not gonna be the great deal Trump thinks it is.

On TikTok, one never needs to even engage with comments unless you actively look them up. Otherwise you don’t see the petty arguments and the hysterical comments. Also tick-tock is very quick to screen out rude obnoxious people. The entire experiences around the videos you see. If you click that you like one you’ll get more of it, if you click that you don’t like something you don’t see it again.

Larry Ellison? Yeah, he’s the guy who offered to provide free National ID cards to every American after the September 11th attacks. No thanks.

I believe you couldn't be more wrong.

I will try to check back in a year from now to see what you think.

YouTube shorts, FB shorts, just 2 off the top of my head.
Don’t need Chinese Spyware.

As we should be doing with YouTube, perhaps we should be doing with Tiktok.

Every Tiktok we make should include criticism of China.

If China wants our content, let’s give it to them. Make it all anti Chinese. They’ll bring it down themselves.

I won’t be there to see when Oracle and Ellison and Fox take over. China won’t sell the algorithm, and DC says they are going to “retrain the algorithm”.

So to protect my data from China, it’ll go to the San Francisco Bay Area, Tel Aviv, and Langley Virginia? Thanks just the same... most people will get a VPN and use the world version, or move onto the new platform that will certainly emerge.

“Protecting” us from foreign influence is nothing new. Nazi Germany let people have radios that could not pick up the BBC, the USSR used to jam American and western European radio stations.

Same old thing...

“YouTube shorts, FB shorts”

Those are crap... and they do not allow you to tailor what is served to you, or easily save and store, they do not allow content creators to get paid in anything close to the TikTok cut, and they are saturated with filth.
I have a facebook and look at it sometimes, the Reels that pop up are utterly sick and nothing I can make them stop serving them up.

DC/Ellison TikTok will be that.

Whoever owns it, wasn’t it designed by China to be addictive and have bad effects? They won’t even allow it in their own country they have a different version of it.

Open the account you don’t have. It’s filled with Americans in China telling you “10 reasons why living in China sucks”, or “China has deep economic problems they are hiding”.

You might not believe it, but DC is very dishonest right now.

I can’t convince you. You have to try it and see for yourself that it’s filled with MAGA and wholesome things. Hell, Charlie Kirk was the one who told Trump he needed to get on it and he still has an account there right now...updated 4 hours ago with the autism press conference he had with RFK Jr. At that exact moment when it was live.... FOX news was pimping Kamala’s book on one of their shows.

Yes, it’s addictive ok, but the quality is high if you put in your interests and click yes or no on what it serves up.

But here’s the bottom line, after a session on Facebook, you feel agitated, or annoyed or somehow dissatisfied. After a TikTok session, there is something that has left you with food for thought, or something that leaves you with an area of life you can do better in.

Again, if you believe DC types like Graham and Cotton who pushed this through, you just won’t get it.
They are not protecting us from China... they are protecting Zuckerberg from a better quality competitor with a far superior product. 150 million Americans, Trump does and Charlie Kirk did.

I didn’t say China is good ad don’t think they are. But US big tech and a segment of the Israeli government definitely evil.

US Big Tech worked with the FBI to censor me and steal an election. Tel Aviv ran an underage whorehouse/rape mill in the Caribbean and got enough dirt that DC is covering it up to this day.

China has very little impact on my freedom. DC and Larry Ellison are a direct immediate threat. I like the idea of a social media where the FBI cannot simply walk in the door and make demands.
