Data showing Generation Z men trending toward the GOP is sparking debate among Democrats over how to win back a key bloc of voters that could prove critical for the party ahead of 2026.
A report from Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) released this week suggested that “Gen Z appears to be charting a different political course than Millennials” and noted that multiple indicators “point to substantial Republican gains among Gen Z.” In particular, the report noted that Democratic registration among young men had shrunk compared with that among young women.
While some experts note that registration trends don’t take into account changing attitudes among demographics between elections, the report is nonetheless providing further warning signs for Democrats as Gen Z men increasingly age into the voting electorate.
“Right now, I’m very concerned that we’re not doing enough because we’re failing to listen to what voters want,” Democratic activist and former Democratic National Committee vice-chair David Hogg told The Hill, citing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’s (D-N.Y.) withholding of an endorsement from New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani as an example.
The DDHQ analysis indicated Democrats had lost ground among young voters in voter registration, particularly young men, during the 2024 cycle.
The same report showed that, while Democratic registration among young white women remained consistent with historical norms at 47 percent, Democratic registration among young white men, historically around 49 percent, had fallen to 29 percent.
The report also found modest losses among young nonwhite women; DDHQ noted that while roughly a decade ago Democratic registration peaked at more than 80 percent, it was now at 75 percent. About 66 percent of young nonwhite men had usually registered Democratic, but the report noted Democratic voter registration now sat at 54 percent.

Reminds me of ‘88 only a lot worse.
The Dems had gone hard Left with Mondale in ‘84 and nominated Dukakis (MA) who was even more radical in’88. Then they can’t back towards the center with Slick Willie in ‘92.
The Dems will need to lose, and will lose, in’26 & ‘28 before they MAY turn back towards the center.
Let them nominate Newscum Oilyhair from CA, see how that works.
The problem is that so much of their base are indoctrinated lunatics, it will be very tough getting anywhere near The Center.
Well, they marketed Biden as a conventional Democrat/deal maker, and he governed hard to the left. Harris couldn’t say one thing she’d do differently. Their bench for the next election cycle doesn’t look better.
Indeed.
Not the first time they've lied.
Obama ran a similar campaign in 2008, instead he governed hard to the left.
The Democrat Party is a terrorist organization. Their members advocate for full blown Marxism, the confiscation of property and the means of production, also the inhalation of Israel. They want to extinguish all opposition (look at what they did to Charlie Kirk).
For the USA to survive as a Republic, the Rat party MUST be banned and declared a subversive, dangerous entity.
They have really lost their minds
The midterm election will show the facts?.
I believe so. It'll be a big night for the GOP.
Their activist class all reside in 70/30 (D) congressional districts where taking the 20% position on 80/20 issues is expected.
Sep 18: Democrat Abigail Spanberger is leading by 12 percentage points among Virginia likely voters”
Key: Who is “likely voters”. How many “unlikely voters” will vote?
Who will convince the “unlikely voters” to vote?
They have lost their minds.
>> Who will convince the “unlikely voters” to vote?
Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA was good at turning out this bloc for Trump and the GOP in 2024. TPUSA is very alive still.
Yes time to show up or shut up.
Agree
That will produce the votes. The distaff cohort will follow.
At the same time, we need to eliminate voter fraud and perpetual counting. Again appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Christine Pelosi bragging about perpetual counting and perfecting illegal ballots in the last two elections in purple California districts. And also erect a DePape statue in front of Pelosi's mansion in SF.
Trump will gain House seats next year and hold the Senate if we fully commit to these two directives.
I hope someone is passing out voter registration cards to all 200,000+ attending Charlie Kirk’s memorial.
As more and more sane people leave the Democrat Party, the crazies make up a larger and larger proportion of the people who remain. This will fuel a spiraling cycle of departures, as the remaining sane people will increasingly feel uncomfortable with the growing sway of the crazies in the Party.
This is true, and a big part of the problem is student loan debt.
The Republicans don't have to embrace an unjust give-away like the Democrats, but this is a problem that needs to be addressed.
