A leading U.S. tech giant has issued an urgent advisory to its H-1B employees visiting India, warning that they may be unable to return to the United States after September 21, unless their visa petitions carry an additional $100,000 payment as required under a new Trump administration proclamation.
Employees already in the U.S. have been told to remain there for the foreseeable future to avoid being locked out. While the proclamation does not directly reference H-4 dependents, the advisory recommends that spouses and children on dependent visas also avoid international travel.

For H-1B employees currently outside the U.S., including those on short visits to India, the company strongly urges immediate return before the deadline to prevent re-entry problems. The note acknowledges that the timing leaves little room for workers to adjust travel plans but underscores that the safest option is to be back in the U.S. before the proclamation takes effect.

The sudden order has caused anxiety among thousands of Indian tech professionals who form the backbone of America’s H-1B workforce. Many now face the prospect of being separated from their families for years or giving up their U.S. careers altogether.

Sob, sob. Go on back home please.
Well, they sure won’t vote Republican in the mid-terms!
Most of them are not supposed to vote.
The Indians living in Valley Ranch are reliably blue voters. That's why my Congresscritters have been Colin Allred and Julie Johnson. Our school district is over 60% "South Asian."
H-1B workers can not vote as not being US citizens.
Only on paper.
How gullible are you, exactly?
It’s about freaking time. Sick of having to work with incompetent people.

80% of Asian Indian Americans voted to reelect Obama in 2012.
78% of Asian Indian Americans voted for Hillary in 2016.
The 2020 and 2024 elections are behind a Pay Wall, so I do not have that data.
“H 1B workers can not vote as not being US citizens.”
***************************
If they are here now, surely they can’t stay in perpetuity…. They are only here for a certain time period…. Or do I misunderstand all of that?
From what I can tell, many of these India citizens are good people and would be very welcome to visit USA as tourists.
The problem is (and has been for DECADES) that “our American corporations” hire them to take jobs here. While we have many well-qualified Americans who can’t get jobs. I know one with a high honors graduate degree from a TOP-tier college (I mean TOP tier) who couldn’t get a five minute interview or even the “courtesy” of a response from a huge corporation, one we are all familiar with (indeed, it manufactured the computer this is being typed on, albeit in Communist China... manufacturing jobs are another serious problem.... most of “our American corporations” COULD manufacture most of their products HERE IN USA, too...just like they used to)
Americans are thrown onto the dole, welfare .... some very well qualified Americans....and many more that could do the work as well as the Indian and Communist Chinese....
We are letting these large corporations stab our American workers in the back and it is just so da**ed unfair. Plus, it weakens our country
They have their own country.
Now tariff outsourced labor. That’s what these unAmerican shitheads have turned back to.
They often get green cards.
If they graduated from a USA university with a STEM degree, they can work for three years after graduation under the OPT Student Visa program.
In addition, USA universities, non-profit labs, and federal, state, and local government agencies can hire and retain an unlimited number of foreign workers that are NOT counted under the OPT or H1B quotas.
There are at least 1 million skilled foreign workers in the USA as I write this.
There are at least 5 million low skill foreign workers.
Most of them are working for below average pay checks.
Most of them have low IQs.
The sudden order by Trump wrt an H-1B fee hike, has caused anxiety among thousands of Indian tech professionals who form the backbone of America’s H-1B workforce. Many now face the prospect of being separated from their families for years or giving up their US careers altogether.
That was dry sarcasm.
