Today, I introduced the only real plan to balance the budget. Neither Republicans nor Democrats bothered to offer one. Five months ago, they claimed spending would be $6 trillion—now it’s already blown past $6.6 trillion.

He lost the vote as predicted. One third of GOPers voted AGAINST a balanced budget within 5 years (The now SIX Penny Plan). Rand only needed 51 votes for this as it's a budget resolution (Confirmed in a tweet by him). As you know the GOP control the U.S. Senate.

I loved me some Ron Paul. Rand Paul? Sure, him, too. But he’s got some lousy sense of timing. We’re battling vicious Communists for control of the future, and he wants to go rouge and put a bunch of GOP Senators on the spot with a budget proposal which isn’t going to pass.
