Several Chevrolet Corvettes have spontaneously burst into flames — prompting General Motors to recall more than 23,000 of the iconic sports cars over a refueling defect that can ignite spilled fuel.
The recall covers certain Corvette Z06 and ZR1 models from the years 2023 until 2026, some of which cost more than $100,000.
The affected cars are equipped with a left-side radiator and cooling fan positioned below the filler area — hardware that can blow leaked gasoline onto hot components and spark a fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Yeah that could be a problem
Kai Spande retired from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant mid-2023. Just sayin’...

Engineering is not indian hunting it’s a degree get one.
All automakers are making garbage and repair costs are thru the roof.
Never was. They've been doing that for well over 100 years.
Sounds like a Chevy Citation back in the 70s.
IIRC fuel would drip on the hot engine after it was parked and turned off.
something like that....
The new Vette is trash. The designers finally killed the the Corvette and got their dream of making it into just another generic Euro-style mid-engine supercar.
If it goes by, you don’t know if it’s a Bugatti, a Ferrari, a McLaren, a Lamborghini, etc.
And now they burn up like a Pontiac Fiero.
Vettes are for men with gold chains, top open, cruising with good music, being fast.
You’ll get flamed for that one.
The yacht rock/white tassel shoes crowd.
Note to government employees: Don’t store your stolen classified documents next to one of these.
Hot Wheels!
Fiberglass burns real good.
For their next design you just spray the gasoline directly on the engine.
Most of these cars are expected to be “track day” cars run on road courses, few are to be driven at civilian speeds.
From today’s brilliant engineers.
So that’s where the engineers that were working on the Volt project when it was axed.
More innovative design from Chevy ...
Exactly.... yeah. That Tokyo drift boy racer crowd finally go old enough to get design jobs.
