Special Presidential Envoy Keith Kellogg on Monday said he and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff recently advised President Trump that Russia is losing its war on Ukraine — as Moscow has seen more than 1 million casualties while taking less than 1% of Ukrainian territory since November 2022.
Speaking at the Yalta European Security Conference in Kyiv, Kellogg revealed he and the chairman, Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, each reassured the president of Moscow’s wilting position roughly six weeks ago — shortly before Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

“I responded quite forcefully, and I finally said, ‘Mr. President, don’t just listen to me. Your chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Dan Caine, is outside. He’s out in the hall, bring him in and ask him that question. He’s your senior, he’s your principal military adviser,'” Kellogg said.
“And he did, and Dan said the same thing. He went, ‘Nope, not winning.'”

Taking ground is secondary, incidental at this point. It will become primary later.
////////
For the russians, taking ground is primary. Or anyhow that explanation best explains their actions.
But what do you mean by the above?
For Boomers like you and Kellogg, age really isn’t the problem.
A delusional ignoring of events and facts of the last 3 years in Ukraine (and in the Red Sea against the houthis), THAT’S the problem.
NATO-planned counteroffensive : failed disastrously; Excalibur : withdrawn from theatre due to jamming; artillery and munitions production promises - well behind schedule; a blockage of the Red Sea by a terrorist group; same group has shot down 20+ REapers at ($30 mil per); Chinese commercial drones outperform USA-built military drones at many times the cost; China 200:1 in navy ship construction...
This is a pattern of alarming failure. And what we get from guys like you and Kellogg is delusional boasts of we will whip these guys in no time flat (and flog the PRC in our spare time).
The Boomers are by far the demographic which is most prone to this delusional foolishness.
Thanks again for explaining why Russia won’t attack NATO.
As nutty as you are, you are a boomer, you are an America hating foreigner but you are a boomer, the generation that you keep ranting about, my President that likes Kellogg so much is also a boomer, but Kellogg is not a boomer.
Yup, because NATO is strong and united and the ONLY ultimate safety guarantee against invasion by Russia, for any neighboring country. Finland is a prime example
Russia has said the entire way it has two goals in Ukraine. Assimilate areas where Russian speakers live and demilitarize Ukraine. They are working on both as they are connected. Once Ukraine’s army is attritted taking land will be easy and won’t require heavy Russian losses.
Most Russian speakers in the Donbas don’t want anything to do with Moscow rule. That is why the Ukrainians gain much more from human intel and not just drone observation.
The Ukrainian military is much more efficient and capable than the Russian army. Ukraine’s deep precision strikes are destroying the Russian economy. Locally, the Russian summer offensive is a colossal failure that cost a shocking amount of casualties and netted the invaders no new lands.
The Ukrainian Cossacks have always been tough customers.
Ukraine is doomed.
“because NATO is strong and united “
Har har har. Only the USA is strong. The rest are pathetic pipsqueaks except for maybe Poland.
You are wrong as usual. The eleven-time-zone country of incompetent drunks, pigs, and apes is getting its teeth kicked out by the one-time-zone country of patriotic brave people.
“Russia’s military has never been weaker in their entire history”
Then its a perfect time for the Yooks to go on offense and Push Ruzzia out
of Ukie Territory.
It will be very cold in Russia this winter... massive gas shortages all of Russia as we speak... and it’s getting worse every day. There are consequences for Kremlin’s “special war operation”... It’s actually punishing the Russian people more than it punishes the Ukrainians. Let that sink in for a minute!
As Trump said the other day : “The aggressor ALWAYS suffers more human losses than the defender!”
“Falling debris” has indeed destroyed 30% of Russia’s gas production. And the winter is indeed, coming soon, very soon....
65% of Russians now demands the end of Putin’s quagmire war in Ukraine.
We must therefore support the Russian PEOPLE against the corrupt globalist warmongering Kremlin-politician’s endless war and its organized mass-destruction of Christian-Russian and Christian-Ukrainian lives. Why?
Because:
CHRISTIAN LIVES MATTER
If Trump doesn’t get us out of Ukraine he’s done and MAGA America first becomes a joke.
I don't think Trump is that focused on Ukraine. As long as the Europeans buy the arms so the Ukrainians will get resupplied, he's fine with that.
Peace would be nice. But apparently, Putin is not interested in that.
There exists on youtube channels devoted to celebrating the military situation on both sides. They get viewcounts because they have identified their audience. If they have been talking about Ukraine triumph and then get viewcounts, then they would be stupid to talk about anything other than Ukraine triumph.
If they have been getting viewcounts talking about Russian triumphs, then they are going to do that. The result of this is there will be entertainment on youtube for people to watch that tells them what they want to hear, whatever that is.
What do I see? I don’t see Russia pleading for a ceasefire.
They didn’t look, as a group, at all grim-faced in Alaska. Putin had the occasional smile riding in the same car as Trump. Kirill Dmetriev nodded with a smile at Witkoff.
Contrast the photo of the entire Euro contingent, including Zelensky, sitting in a semi circle in front of Trumps Oval Office desk. They did not look happy.
The source of casualty numbers is an important question. They are almost certainly coming from Ukraine — probably with a small print caveat saying these numbers are not confirmed by independent sources. Tulsi would have come forward with a comment about NRO source. She has not done that.
The Continuing Resolution upcoming is going to distract Trump from all this, and that fight could go months.
What?
Don’t forget those wonderful Iranians and their Ayatollahs.
Smells like bullshit.
