FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway told FOX News host Martha MacCallum that people need to take the powerful, well-funded interests more seriously following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
MARTHA MACCALLUM, FOX NEWS HOST: Charlie Kirk, known for vibrant debates and his willingness to exchange ideas with anyone doing so across college campuses and even here on "The Story."
CHARLIE KIRK: The MAGA doctrine that he has started is only going to continue to grow. Philosophically, I believe he has changed the Republican Party for the better, ending the endless wars, renegotiating trade deals, challenging entrenched corporate interests and giving a voice to workers across the country.
MACCALLUM: Nailing it on a number of topics there. Let's bring in the Federalist editor-in-chief and FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway. Mollie, great to have you with us. You know, I want to actually start, if I may, with this quote from the New York Times. This is from Ezra Klein's piece today. And he says this, When the left thought its hold on the hearts and minds of college students was nearly absolute, Kirk showed up again and again to break it. Slowly, then all at once he did. College age voters shifted sharply to the right in the 2024 election. Your thoughts, Mollie, today on that and reflections on Charlie Kirk.
MOLLIE HEMINGWAY, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Yes, it's interesting. Charlie started at such a young age working with you that I think a lot of people think of him that way. That he was turning the college campuses and he did it so effectively.
And it's also true that in recent years he had matured quite a bit and had become something of a statesman for the conservative movement, showing a way forward away from some of the tired tropes

For instance, what do Kamala Harris, a person admired by the American Left, and the assassin have in common?
Answer: Harris referred to Trump as a fascist, and the assassin believed close Trump ally Charlie Kirk was a fascist.
Beyond coincidence, for close to a hundred years, communists have labeled anyone they think poses a threat to their agenda as a "fascist". The assassin, of course, may only have been a misguided and confused youth, but he was effectively misguided.
Erika Kirk appears poised to pick up the Charlie Kirk mantle, and if so, our "interests" ought to assure that she has funds for her effective security.

One man with a $30 billion box of hammers can cause a lot of mischief.
“Changing society is at the heart of the matter.”
There are physical constraints - such as coastlines. New York and LA are big because they are on coasts. The temperatures on the Pacific coast are moderated by the Pacific Ocean.
Then there is airline service. LA and NYC have connections lots of rich people love. Rich people often love eating out and remodeling their houses. This means money can be had by cooks and tradespeople.
The FAA makes sure the airplanes are safe and don’t crash into each other. This makes it possible for metropolitan areas to have more people, sending land values sky-high.
The government finances expensive roads like I-10 and the Washington Beltway so these areas don’t choke on traffic, which would limit their productive population.
Then there are railroads. Without government power, it would not have been possible to build most of them.
Then there is the U.S. Navy, which keeps international shipping safe from pirates. If huge ships couldn’t bring goods from China, industrial production would not have moved to China.

Do you think the foul-mouthed Michigan ‘Muslim’ is going to be changed by Trump, or by a Christian preacher?
“My other problem with your proposals is that passing more laws will solve the problem.”
There are laws that regulate the airwaves over which this is being sent to Free Republic.
Laws had to be enacted and changed to make that possible.
Laws enabled cable/fiber optic and electric supply franchises to be run.
“You present an accounting and over seeing problem with a limit.”

Compare my proposal to the headline.
People may need government subsidies, but artificial entities are highly suspect.
Perhaps the transcontinental railroad.
Instead of “general welfare”, ‘public works’.
And not the high-velocity waste of money Californians have voted to approve.

And you can’t admit what you did.
There are other ways to change society than govt.
