Hemingway: The Well-Funded Interests Trying To Destroy The Country Need To Be Investigated and Rooted Out

FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway told FOX News host Martha MacCallum that people need to take the powerful, well-funded interests more seriously following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

MARTHA MACCALLUM, FOX NEWS HOST: Charlie Kirk, known for vibrant debates and his willingness to exchange ideas with anyone doing so across college campuses and even here on "The Story."

CHARLIE KIRK: The MAGA doctrine that he has started is only going to continue to grow. Philosophically, I believe he has changed the Republican Party for the better, ending the endless wars, renegotiating trade deals, challenging entrenched corporate interests and giving a voice to workers across the country.

MACCALLUM: Nailing it on a number of topics there. Let's bring in the Federalist editor-in-chief and FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway. Mollie, great to have you with us. You know, I want to actually start, if I may, with this quote from the New York Times. This is from Ezra Klein's piece today. And he says this, When the left thought its hold on the hearts and minds of college students was nearly absolute, Kirk showed up again and again to break it. Slowly, then all at once he did. College age voters shifted sharply to the right in the 2024 election. Your thoughts, Mollie, today on that and reflections on Charlie Kirk.

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Yes, it's interesting. Charlie started at such a young age working with you that I think a lot of people think of him that way. That he was turning the college campuses and he did it so effectively.

And it's also true that in recent years he had matured quite a bit and had become something of a statesman for the conservative movement, showing a way forward away from some of the tired tropes

Just waking up today, I heard something about Robinson being radicalized on a Discord group. Didn’t catch anything more than that.

Robinson sent the messages about retrieving the rifle to his tranny roomie on Discord.

The FBI needs to be scouring all these ‘net chat & hook-up services.

Well-Funded Interests Trying To Destroy The Country

They use the word equality a lot.
The state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities.

That was tried 3 times by Lenin Stalin & Hitler didn’t work.

Millions were murdered to gain their goal.

Well, they ARE, but unfortunately, not in the way we would want!

I don’t think the problem would be solved by rooting out just a few bad actors. I have lunch friends from high school (1960’s) who I consider to be good people, yet they’ll vote Democrat every time.

The poisonous root is the tax system and the lack of tax caps in state and federal constitutions.

If the tax collections were at their maximum more votes couldn’t be bought, and more moochers would be unwanted by all.

Fighting to place tax caps in constitutions is a vote getter.

Republicans need every vote they can get.

The political process started with Progressivism at the turn of the Century. The process of social decomposition started in 1931.

WIKI

Discord is an instant messaging and VoIP social platform that allows communication through voice calls, video calls, text messaging, and media. Communication can be private or take place in virtual communities called “servers”. Such a server is a collection of persistent chat rooms and voice channels accessed by invitation links. Discord runs on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS, and Linux, and in web browsers.

As of 2024, Discord has about 150 million monthly active users and 19 million weekly active servers. It is primarily used by gamers, although the share of users interested in other topics is growing. As of March 2024, Discord is the 30th most visited website in the world, and 22.98% of its traffic comes from the United States. In March 2022, Discord employed 600 people globally.

According to Citron, during the development process, he noticed how difficult it was for his team to work out tactics in games like Final Fantasy XIV and League of Legends using available voice over IP (VoIP) software. This led to the development of a chat service with a focus on user friendliness with minimal impact on performance. The name Discord was chosen because it “sounds cool and has to do with talking”, was easy to say, spell, remember, and was available for trademark and website.

Starting in June 2020, Discord announced it was shifting focus away from video gaming specifically to a more all-purpose communication and chat client for all functions, revealing its new slogan “Your place to talk”, along with a revised website. Among other planned changes was to reduce the number of gaming in-jokes it used within the client, improving the user onboarding experience, and increasing server capacity and reliability.

In July 2021, Discord acquired Sentropy, an internet moderation company.

Ahead of a funding round in August 2021, Discord had reported $130 million in 2020 revenues, triple from the prior year, and had an estimated valuation of $15 billion. According to Citron, the increased valuation was due to the shift away from “broadcast wide-open social media communication services to more small, intimate places”, as well as increased usage from the COVID-19 pandemic. They captured users that were leaving Facebook and other platforms due to privacy concerns.

In early 2023, Discord was used to publish classified United States documents in one of the most significant intelligence leaks in recent history. The documents, distributed on a Minecraft Discord server as photos, detailed the state of the Russo-Ukrainian War, surveillance of allied and adversarial nations, and indicated cracks in alliances with nations aligned with the United States.

In late 2025, Discord was used heavily in the 2025 Nepal Protests and was used to help elect a new prime minister.

Discord is a persistent group chat software, based on an eventually consistent database architecture. Discord was originally built on MongoDB. The infrastructure was migrated to Apache Cassandra when the platform reached a billion messages, then later migrated to ScyllaDB when it reached a trillion messages.

Discord’s backend is written mostly in Elixir and Python, as well as Rust, Go, and C++.

My first thought was to get rid of all charitable tax deductions.

let charities/churches compete without the aid of govt. You present an accounting and over seeing problem with a limit.

But the world isn’t that simple to solve problems. The assumption we have is that people are financially motivated and yes that is a factor but there are other factors.

Prior to the tax system and allowing deductions on taxes, what was charitable giving like. What happened to large estates.

I remember that public water fountains were the result of charitable giving by an individual. The thinking was influenced by prohibition. If there was an alternative to the local saloon to slake your thirst, you can could change society.

How would non deductibility change each and every one of us in our giving patterns?

Based on the nature of man, there is only one cure.

My other problem with your proposals is that passing more laws will solve the problem.

Going to govt for the solutions is so well engrained in us. They have us trained very well.

Trump has gone to the court of public opinion, to change society. Changing society is at the heart of the matter.

Trump has a bully pulpit, we have voices to talk to others.
