A Fox News presenter suggested during a live segment that people struggling with homelessness and mental health issues should be executed.
Brian Kilmeade made the comments on the network's flagship talk show Fox and Friends on Wednesday alongside co-hosts Lawrence Jones and Ainsley Earhardt.
The trio had been discussing the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska who was killed while on a bus when Kilmeade made the now heavily criticized remark.
Jones suggested that people not taking up programs to help those battling mental health and homelessness should be locked up, when Kilmeade went nuclear.
'Or involuntary lethal or something, just kill them', he said - with the comment passing by his cohosts who looked completely unfazed by the remark.
Earhardt added: 'Yeah, Brian, why did it have to get to this point?', failing to comment on his suggestion.
Kilmeade then proceeded to say that cities with large homeless populations were voting for the wrong leaders, urging those in North Carolina to 'wake up'.
Zarutska was murdered in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 22 after being stabbed in the neck, suspect Decarlos Brown is accused of killing her.

Was he being absurd to make some kind of point?
It's only a half-step removed from eugenics. And it's got a considerable gray area between the clearly insane and the clearly sane, and you don't want people you don't agree with drawing a line and placing you on the wrong side of it.
I don't consider it a good solution. It's a last-ditch desperation move, when all else has failed.
Didn’t see this, but my money says he was talking about mentally ill people who savagely butcher innocent people, which was the context of this discussion. If that’s the case, you can count me in.
Maybe Brian K. is ready to quit and trying to break his contract. Brian usually wears the expression of someone who is perpetually pissed about something. Retired Host Doocey used to help balance all that vinegar out
‘Or involuntary lethal or something, just kill them’, he said — quote from Daily Mail, accurately printed here, is incorrect. He said “involuntary lethal injection.” Never anything like “just kill them. Not really any better but co-hosts may have missed”in-” prefix to “involuntary.”
Taken out of context. Look at the whole video - not the snippet being shown.
A death penalty for murder makes sense that’s for sure.
>> I don’t consider it a good solution. It’s a last-ditch desperation move, when all else has failed.
Agree 100%. But fired for *mentioning* it? It’s not like he laid out a plan for *implementing* it. Or proposed it in any particular case.
Why are they outraged? In Canada euthanasia is an accepted treatment for mental disorders, poverty, homelessness, loneliness, obesity, old age, etc.
And after their covid tyranny, it’s not such a big leap to MAID mandates.
That idea has a familiar ring to it . . .
I'm a free-speech absolutist, so I don't have a problem with anybody saying outrageous stuff. And no, I wouldn't fire him for just mentioning it, were I his boss. But it's not my call, and if TPTB fire him, it's their call.
A lot of people get fired for a lot less. Employment is not the public square, and shooting off your mouth with opinions that reflect negatively on your employer will get you fired in many circumstances.
He was speaking specifically of homicidally violent mentally ill. The clips online end abruptly after after this part, so there could be more context missing.
The quote was from 9/10. Anyone pretending to be outraged is trying to change the subject from something else.
We don't need to be offing people just because they are homeless, however we do need to be "processing" them, and it needs to happen outside our cities, which need to be reclaimed and cleaned up.
As far as violent criminals go, drop them in the ocean half way between the US and Cuba and invite them to swim home as they contemplate the error of their ways.
What’s your home address? They can be shipped there to hang out around/in your house and your property. We’ll see how long it takes you to want them gone.
Moral frauds are fatiguers
“Who do you want to decide is “”mentally ill” enough to require a lethal solution?”
These writers always take everything out of context.
He’s talking about sociopathic killers.
What’s worse, being fried in the electric chair or being given a lethal injection?
I think a lethal injection is more humane.
Punishments got to fit the crime or you get more crime. That’s where we’re at.
I watched the clip. Effing horrifying.
Can someone elaborate on the context that’s “missing”?
Yeah because this isn’t literally what the Third Reich did.
WTAF. Indefensible.
From the context of what they were talking about, the case of a person who had on actual video undeniably murdered another human being, that he meant to deny homeless people a fair trial. It seems obvious he was referring to the death penalty for people who had murdered someone rather than turning them loose on society to keep doing murdering more people. Whether a convicted murderer is mentally ill or not, the fact remains that the victim is still dead, the surviving relations still denied justice, and the murderer still guilty, able and willing to kill, if allowed to go Scot free. Nobody present reacted to it because they understood the *context* in which the comment was made.
He just picked a clumsy way of expressing his point which was then exploited by some not picked who could care less about context or crime victims.
