Is it possible he just had the rifle on a 2 point sling over his shoulder?

Take down rifles have been available for a very LONG time.
I have yet to see a picture of the rifle, we hear “Mauser” but have not SEEN a Mauser.
Mausers have also been customised for a very long time, a customized take-down variation is not that hard to do.
I may be one of the few on this board who has actual experiance in manufacturing custom long guns, the rush to conclusions I keep seeing over and over without actual knowledge is very disappointing.

Where did they find the gun?

The smartest thing to do is to abandon your weapons. It is my understanding that professional hitman often leave their weapons behind, because the weapons were made untraceable and it’s a liability to carry them.

Savage also had this point:

"Something's wrong...we're supposed to believe a guy is on the run after killing Charlie Kirk, and he pauses in the woods to reinstall a barrel and then he leaves it for us to find?"

The whole thing stinks.

This is exactly what I’ve been saying ever since I saw that video of the guy jumping off the building. He has no gun with him. Is the rifle in the woods a red herring that was left before the event even started?

I believe the Mauser was a plant. Why would someone carry a rifle a ways just to drop it later. Why not just leave it.
The actual shooter may have used a single shot rifle which is easily disassembled into three pieces with an overall length of 20-22 inches. New England Firearms SB2 which comes in many calibers including 30-06. Is one example.

The real shooter is either out of the country,

or six feet under.

savage is wrong

the perp is wearing the backpack when he goes over the edge of the building

he is carrying the rifle covered with a towel

If you go to the fbi video, set it at the highest resolution and speed at .25, and view it on a big screen, you can step through it and see that after he lands on the ground, the rifle gets uncovered and you can see a long dark object, that he works to cover with the towel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrfHme9Yhc8

additional info I’ve seen - he ran across the street, where they are doing some work and people doing exclavation talk to him and told him he couldn’t be there.

he disappeared into the woods, came out without the rifle, and went into the neighborhood.

the woods is where the rifle was found.

info filtered from tons of garbage I’ve seen about the incident.

Not enough info given out for online sleuths to figure out anything very well. It took them over a day to release video which they must have had 3 hrs after despicable murder.
They must have better info. Gun found could have been a plant.
I might be attributing better powers to investigating agencies but I believe they have way more info than they are exposing. The release of selective non specific info might be a ploy to coax other possible co-conspirators to move. Why would any investigative unit tell everybody what they know so early on? With space based info gathering devices available they must have a better lead than they are admitting. Hope I am correct....

With a tape measure, i checked whether the length the rifle probably was could likely be concealed. Barrel down the pants to about knee level would still allow some mobility while the stock end of the rifle could be concealed under a t-shirt. The sling would have to have been adjusted for it to hang right. The stock wouldn’t have to be under the t-shirt. I can’t see the video well enough to see if it was done that way, but i think it would be possible.

That still leaves the question of why he would take it with him if he was going to abandon it later. Maybe thought he could get away with the rifle but then decided he better not risk it?

I do not think the guy was a pro, just a decent shot with a rifle.

One other thing.

LOTS of losers/tinfoil hat types (both left AND right) are saying “tHiS iZ a dErP sTaTe oPeRAsHun… hUrR, duRr!”

A professional hit. Sure.

A “professional” would have had exfil/egress route planned, some way of getting inTO the building or off the FAR side AWAY from observation so he could easily blend in with personnel or crowds.

I am starting to think that there is a whole lot of disinformation going on here.

The old man on the ground claiming his miranda rights.
The kid jumping off of the roof without a rifle.
A rifle found in another location.
Killer still on the loose.

What if all these details were pre planned to throw law enforcement off the trial.

I think that since no one can identify the murderer, he is obv a sniper from another country. The ‘messages’ on the barrel are just to distract from the truth.

He will never be caught.

Charlie was killed at a specific location. How long was it known that he was going to speak on that spot? Or did Charlie not know and organizers directed him there on the day of the event? And was he seated when he was hit?

Whether a conspiracy or alone, to prepare for a long-range shoot, I think a shooter would have to know where their target would be. And if the target is offered a chair for a speaking engagement, its natural for them to sit down at some point. That’s when the target would be voluntarily immobilized for a careful aim.

I think knowing how the event was organized, promoted, and staged may proved clues as to who did the planning and their circle of acquaintances and friends. Possibly, there is a mole in that bunch who informed the shooter.

I thought the same thing as Savage on first viewing the video. But as he is going over the edge, there is a flash of something like a guitar case.

Ummm - maybe the assassin had an untraceable rifle and knew how to keep DNA off of it - and ditched it...who would want to walk around with the murder weapon under these circumstances.

He had a bag in hand when jumping off the roof, as well as his pack on his back. The rifle could have been in the bag. The picture released of the rifle shows it in original cardboard box (unusual) - where is the bag? Yes, very time consuming to disassemble that type of rifle. Lots of ????’s.
