A zookeeper was eaten alive by lions in front of horrified tourists, who watched as the big cats chewed through his flesh to the bone, according to reports and stomach-churning videos.
Veteran zookeeper Jian Rangkasamee, 59, was attacked early Wednesday when he stepped out of his jeep to clear trash off the floor of the animal’s open enclosure at Safari World In Bangkok in Thailand‘s capital, according to Viral Press.
Panicked visitors screamed as they helplessly watched the lions pin him down and tear at him with their teeth. The first lion “was about [30 feet] away, then slowly approached and grabbed the zookeeper from behind, dragging him to the ground and biting him,” said Professor Tavatchai Kanchanarin, a doctor at a leading hospital who witnessed the horrific attack.

It’s safer than trying to take a meal away from lions!
True.
They’re sick in the head.
If I am, I hope my fellow FReepers are in full form that day. Especially if I manage to go out in hilarious style!
It’s the Circle Of Life....
If only the Detroit Lions showed this kind of commitment against the Packers.
Only 4 because the fifth would be on you by then?

"Now if we had some soy sauce with a side of rice..."
Don’t enter the cage at feeding time, especially if you didn’t bring lunch.
Actually, with that AR, from the proper position, (about 90 degrees to the right of the camera position), at 100 yards, I could disable those four lions with a single round and put five more rounds into the fifth lion before he closed fifty yards of that 100, if he was stupid enough to charge me.
That was great! Should be read to all children regularly! RIP wee Jim!
+1 for Belloc.
Sounds like these lions just got fed up.
The point I was trying to make is that you’d have to see it. Based on your previous statement, you didn’t. Not trying to start an argument, just being snarky...
Around cats, don’t relax.
Aside from scream, unless they were armed, what could they have done about it, except call authorities? From their body posture, those cats look like they hadn't been fed for days.
Lions are opportunistic predators. Unless they’re so full that they can’t move, even if they just something, they’ll go after anything that looks easy to catch. After all, they don’t know when they’ll eat next. They aren’t as successful as Wild Dogs as hunters.
What a horror for all who were there.
One of the most dangerous moments on WildEarth’s live safari drive was when Steve, one of the presenters, was so focussed on lion tracks that he nearly walked into a resting pride. Happily, it turned out to be one of the funniest moments.

And then he did it again! I didn’t see this one live. He really is an experienced guide. To be fair, the lions weren’t as easy to see this time.

How about stop filming and get the frick out of there?
The fifth lion was not positioned for the spine shot I specified, so I didn't comment on the fifth lion.
You assumed I did not see the fifth lion, ... assumptions are quite often wrong.
My basic purpose was trying to lead the participants on the thread to the conclusion that a trained Ranger armed with a proper auto-loading rifle should have been on-site at all times.
Obviously, no one analyzed the incident from a perspective of How can we increase the safety of ALL the People in the Animal Park Facility.
I often post content in the hopes that other FReepers will critically think, analyze and propose a better solution themselves, it gives a Positive direction to the thread.
And I do shoot that well.
