Trump on Russia’s incursion into NATO: ‘Here we go!’
CNN ^ | September 10, 2017 | Kevin Liptak

President Donald Trump reacted Wednesday with a degree of bemusement toward Russia’s drone incursion into Poland, a NATO member that Trump has previously vowed to defend amid heightened tensions with Moscow.

“What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones?” Trump asked in a short post on Truth Social. “Here we go!” The brief mention of the incident — and the vague suggestion of continued fallout — came as US officials were digesting the overnight events, when more than a dozen Russian drones entered Polish airspace, spurring a response from NATO to scramble fighter jets to shoot them down.

The incident amounted to a striking escalation of Russia’s conflict in neighboring Ukraine, which Trump has sought unsuccessfully to end. Twenty-six days after his high-profile meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, there appears to be little progress toward ending the war.

Amid growing frustration with Putin, Trump has said he’s ready to apply new sanctions on Moscow, but hasn’t detailed what measures he’s considering. And, so far, he hasn’t applied any new punishments beyond an additional trade penalty on India over its transactions with Russia. According to the White House, Trump is planning to speak later Wednesday with Poland’s president, who he met in the Oval Office last week.

In that session, Trump pledged his continued support for Poland, and even said he’d be open to sending additional US troops to the country amid questions of his commitment to an American military presence along NATO’s eastern flank. “We’ll put more there if they want,” Trump said during his talks with Karol Nawrocki. “But they’ve long wanted to have a larger presence. We have some countries that have more — not too many. But no, they’ll be staying in Poland. We’re very much aligned with Poland.”

“Zelensky would be wise to ask for annual EU funding to retain in Ukrainian military service the battle-hardened soldiers he has plus money to buy weapons for them.”

Putin has long demanded the demilitarization of Ukraine. He knows he has to do that himself and that’s been one of his goals the entire way, attrition. The disturbing part for Ukraine and its allies is that Putin only has half his army on the front.

US GDP is services.
China GDP is manufacturing.

Convert both economies to wartime, what happens?

It is too laugh. The USA under President Trump is having a resistance, while Russia continues as a sad second world Nation.

Putin has embarrassed himself with his meat-grinding invasion. That he “has only half his army at the front” is not the brag you think it to be. Russia has almost 14,000 miles in borders: is it shocking that Putin couldn’t leave his entire perimeter unmanned?

And how staggeringly pathetic is that Russia is reliant on North Koreans (amongst other foreign nationalities) to not win a war against an inferior adversary?

Putin was never on record proposing Ukrainian demilitarization, nor would he have any right to demand it. That he was opposed to its membership in NATO was no secret, but SURPRISE!, the invasion began when that wasn’t even close to occuring.

This never needed to occur. Shame that we purposely provoked Russia into invading Russia in order to foment a proxy war with Russia. A major geopolitical blunder.

But calmer heads need to exhibit cooler calm heads, instead of rush into an armed conflict with another nuclear power, because there are still a lot of unknowns that still exist as to what really caused this incursion. For the cowboys on this board, no, it most likely was not done on purpose. Conflicts, in many cases, have accidental unintended incursions. Knee-jerk reactions often accomplish nothing except to escalate the conflicts into something even greater, & worse.

Are you in the “Putin is defeated” camp or the “Putin is going to take all of Europe” camp? Or both?

There hasn’t even been any confirmation that those drones were even launched by the Russians. This incident reminds me of the many times a white man has been blamed for the murder of a black man before all the facts are on the table. The media runs with unproven propaganda all the time. I want cold, hard evidence before WWIII is started over this $hit. It’s like the allegation that Russia cut its own Nord Stream pipeline. Can saner minds gather the facts and give us the truth?

"Putin would very much like to whack the USA and its stock market"

They did that the four years the usurper Biden was in office. This country sent untold, and unaccounted-for billions of dollars and weapons to Ukraine, all at the expense of the down-trodden tax payer struggling at home. All Russia had to do was sit back and watch this country foolishly fund and fuel yet another proxy war with them, and the politicians who have investments in the military industrial complex, and benefit from unending war, sat back here, and counted the money that came rolling in from this war.

"Without confirmation from either of those two sources, it didn’t happen."

Thank you. There has been no hard evidence or factual confirmation of any of this. The media is running with it as usual.

No one in Europe bothered with security guarantees after WWI and the Versailles Treaty. Most countries who fought in that war, decreased their military and defense budgets. England was more interested in making money than policing Germany. Germany never fully disarmed after WWI. The Krupp Group was still producing weapons despite of Versailles, and Europe failed to notice. And when Hitler began his saber rattling in Germany, nobody in Europe paid much attention to that either.

So good luck Ukraine with security guarantees from the EU. They can't even afford, nor are they willing to protect their own country's borders, let alone yours. And the U.S. shouldn't be anywhere near this. We've wasted enough taxpayer money, depleted our own oil reserves, and weapons inventory, when it wasn't even our war to begin with. No more proxy wars with Russian, China or anyone else.
