GOP leaders historically argued spending cuts, not tax increases, should address national debt
"... In the meantime, Republicans should take with a grain of salt increased revenue and ask themselves whether the goal is to balance a bloated budget with increased taxes or instead limit the size and scope of government. This important question once differentiated conservatives from liberals — I hope the current fad for import taxes doesn’t entice all conservatives to forget the goal of a small, constitutional federal government."

He mentions John Thune (GOP leader) in the article
The senior republicans are all too entrenched to do what is necessary. They would have to give up something to make real changes happen.
“””Rand sounds frustrated with the GOP. Are you? “””
We are frustrated with Little Rand.
The spending is Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, and interest on the debt. While they are willing to trim Medicaid slightly, they’re not going to cut the big programs that drive the deficit.
Rand is always frustrated about something. That’s his MO.
Nailed it.
“Rand sounds frustrated with the GOP. Are you?”
The Trump administration is doing great. The Republican congress is a drag.
The sad part is that the voters at large may say they want to fix the deficit. But when it someday down to it, nobody wants to give up one slice of their government cheese.
That makes it politically impossible to make cuts, especially when the democrats live for having a new victim to pander to.
Anti tariff retards complaining about the deficit. Hypocrisy they name is Rand.
Tariffs are seriously digging into the deficit so why is Rand and his Loser-tarean idiots fighting against them?
Actually, The Republicans and the Democrats have allowed President Trump to not only “fix the deficit” but strongly attack the debt.
The President accomplished what the Congress could not do.
The President raised taxes by creating lots of tariffs on all imports. The Congress has tacitly gone along because it solves their biggist problem.
The public has been convinced that the exporters are paying the tariffs
Yes, it’s a classic conundrum
So a massive crisis is coming. At least we can prepare
I am sick of hearing Rand shoot his mouth off. How long has he been there? What has he done?
He has been there 15 years. He has done squat. He is a worthless waste of oxygen.
Because it’s not sustainable and feeding a bloated government which I think is what he’s saying
There needs to be corresponding CUTS.......
He just posted this in response to a similar argument:
@RandPaul
Good question. I’ve Introduced and forced votes on balanced budgets in every Congress since my first election.
I’m the sponsor of the Penny Plan to fix our spending problem. I’ve introduced and forced votes on amendments to cut trillions in federal spending, including closing down entire agencies.
Guess what? There are too many spineless, swamp creature Senators who won’t vote for these.
So my question to anyone saying what am I doing about it? A lot.
What I need is help so we have the votes to pass them.
If your Senator won’t cut spending and fix our debt problem, maybe it’s time you consider finding a new Senator who will.
Hypocrite. You love your Marxist income tax. Go away.
Anti tariff deficit hypocrites are a joke.
And the clown voted NO on the Big Beautiful Bill which is a very good start to fix the problem.
He proposes a bunch of stuff that he knows will never get passed just so he can say he did a lot.
Rand’s 15 minutes are up.
