Let me start by saying that I love Free Republic. It is the best news aggregation and conservative commentary website on the internet.
That said, when it comes to notifying people of your new novel or book — even indirectly — it is a bi-plane in a jetliner age.
By indirect and occasional direct mentions of my work, I managed MAYBE 50 sales, and about 1000 Kindle Unlimited page reads....and many of those were relatives. That was from June 19 to August 31.
However, when I was accepted for, and paid (a significant amount of money) for, a spot on the BookBub Featured Deals, which ran on September 1st, I now have 1,818 sales and 26,698 Kindle Unlimited page reads... for September alone.
I love Free Republic, but my fellow writers, do not sweat the small stuff.
I’ll continue to post articles of interest to the Writer’s Guild, but really, there seems little point to direct linking to my work. I can happily leave those off.

I caught it and promoted it... As it should be with anyone who is writing with the cause of making this Nation great again through education or historical fact about liberty. Are we not all here to share those Conservative values? Why would we not want to help other members who want to do the very same thing with their works? We are just conversing about it, they are actually putting the hard work and time to send our same messages far and wide to change minds... Does this not also have value towards the cause of a Free Republic? Does not helping them help our root cause too? Maybe if they make some money they can afford to donate back? Why would this place want to prevent that possibility?

You know hard it is to walk into the Feed Store without the guys at the counter bursting into laughter every time I walk in there with my order. They donāt get it, I spend most of my morning just trying to find the furry bastards to feed āem. Then around noon Iām back in field, the Sun tanning yesterdayās tan, putting the pigs in fresh costumes (they seem to like Pilot and Mermaid the best). And to top it all off, Iām noticing the pig count getting smaller while the area coyotes seem to be getting fatterā¦. Itās hard life, but maybe someday my life will make a great documentary or country music song.
