UTICA, N.Y. -- A "rarely used charge" has been deemed appropriate for a Utica woman following her son's involvement in various felony and misdemeanor activities.
According to a release from the Utica Police Department, Nurto Mohamed, 36, was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child due to "failure to exercise due diligence in control of a child."
The charge follows her 11-year-old son's involvement in criminal acts since the start of this year.
According to officials, the child has been linked to at least four felony acts, including a robbery, and a recent burglary with a 12-year-old accomplice.
The burglary resulted in damage to several vehicles and the theft of two cars, which were driven around the City, causing further damage.
The District Attorney's Office determined that this rarely used charge was appropriate due to the public nuisance caused.
"Each and every time, Mohamed has been made aware of the behavior and was offered services for assistance," according to UPD.
Due to the child's age, he cannot be charged with crimes, but authorities decided action was necessary.
"Going forward we will explore this charge for similar incidents and patterns, but we are hopeful that this is a last resort option as parents are willing to partner with us and community providers to ensure safe and appropriate behaviors for their children," according to the UPD report.

Which is why Chicago has a crime wave, by 15 year olds.
The last name provides a big clue.
“Which is why Chicago has a crime wave, by 15 year olds. “
This child was 11, not even made it to the teen years.
I can’t imagine what he would be doing at 15.
Wonder what his father has to say.
“Allah Ahkbar”
His father? What father? Does he know who is father even is? Does his father even know he exists?
Find the father and give the kid to him, maybe the kid will straiten up if it’s not too late.
A four-felony crime wave by an 11 year old. We know what he will be doing In five years.
Doubtful IMHO when there are no consequences for his bad actions.
Even if the kid is shot and killed by someone else for ding dong dashing, the legal guardians should be held responsible in some way as well for the kid’s death or injury.
Not all 11 year olds are nice kids.
The father probably taught the kid everything he knows.
I agree. What if this child would have been killed either by a homeowner or police? BTW police have had to shoot kids this young and younger.
I honestly think that is why they are going after the parents in some areas. The police really don’t want to have to shoot some snot nose kid doing a felony often with a stolen gun but they have family they want to go home too.
So if they jail the mother, then what? Kids on their own?
According to a news report a black man said that 8 year olds were brandishing fire arms in Shitcago ... I mean Chicago.
Tell the yute that because of his age, he cannot join Daddy in prison.
“Due to the child’s age, he cannot be charged with crimes”
That if true is insane. What if he starts killing people daily? He wouldn’t be charged with a crime?
The writer didn’t provide much detail about that quote.
Utica NY, the town of evil
