US President Donald Trump urged Europe to cease its purchases of Russian oil on a call with European leaders at the Coalition of the Willing, Fox News reported on Thursday, citing a White House official.

Additionally, Trump stressed that European leaders should increase economic pressure on China "for funding Russia's war efforts," while stressing the importance of curbing financial aid to Russia.

More to come...

My recommendation is to forget the sanctions. There are always work arounds. 50% on India benefits no one...harms everyone.

Oil is fungible so this is a fool’s errand.

“i think i know why Trump did the 600k students…in mideival times two oft warring nations would exchange princes and princesses so that the other country didn’t do anything belligerent…these students are the children of communist party members”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Interesting take.
You may be partly right on that one.
But it’s costly no matter what. These Chinese spy-students are highly efficient when it comes to stealing everything we invent - and then turning those stolen inventions against us.

You've finally posted something useful, Marcus.

Trump is right to call out the European hypocrites.

But, the EU's economy would collapse without Russian oil so EU countries can't comply.

Between the reduction in the flow of cheap Russian oil and idiotic green energy policies, multiple EU countries are self-destructing.

Your posts this morning are quite amusing. The Austrian re-publishing FOX, and "citing a White House official" without a name is itself amusing, given the White House's predilection to announce much publicly.

As to Europe "halting" --- their proposal to stop purchase by the end of 2027 is not yet passed through the EU parliament and ratified by the member states. Detail:

"The Proposal will now be subject to the ordinary legislative procedure that requires approval from the European Parliament as well as a qualified majority of the EU Member States.."

Additionally, the EU and its member states, as well as India, there are others buying Russian energy and other products not mentioned in the daily headlines. Detail:
The US and Europe are still doing billions of dollars’ worth of business with Russia despite years of war CNN, 14 August 2025.

And some specifics: The Russian Federation retains dominant market positions in several strategic categories. It supplies: 83.85% of U.S. imports of phosphatic fertilizer mixes; 49.58% of urea-ammonium nitrate fertilizers; 45.34% of unwrought palladium; 44.67% of buckwheat,"

Trying to finesse this Gordian knot is a political dance, for these United States are among those nations conitnuing to buy Russian products.

Betcha Baha didn't mention that, huh?

What works? What do you recommend?

Cutting off ALL to Ukraine and forcing Zelensky to take any deal he can get to end the war.

That will work.

It was Germany's best interest to get cheap oil from Russia.

It's the dramatic reduction of Russian oil and the fact Germany is paying more to third parties to import it along with its insane green energy policies that are destroying the German economy.

So they subsidize Putin’s war machine, while demanding the US do all the heavy lifting.

What if Z won’t take a deal?
Are you ok with Putin annexing Ukraine or installing a puppet government?

There are severe EU countries that spiral into a recession or depression without oil. It's more expensive to get it from anywhere else.

Trump is right to point out the EU's hypocrisy.

But, the sane course of action is the EU to sign on to peace talks with Trump and end the war in Ukraine so lift sanctions and import Russian oil again.

Ukraine has two choices 1)Concede the annexed territory and remain neutral toward Russia or 2) Lose everything east of Dnieper river and, probably, Odessa.

There are no other choices.

The Russians acted in Ukraine 1) to protect their naval base in Crimea and 2) to liberate the people in the annexed area that overwhelmingly are ethnically and culturally Russia and voted for a President that was illegally removed from office in a coup we fomented.

There is absolutely no reason to believe Russia every wanted anymore territory than what its annexed.

We shouldn't be doing ANY lifting.

Trump needs to cutoff all military aid to Ukraine and force Zelensky to take any deal it can get.

If they are buying Russian oil, it’s because they do not genuinely see Russia as a threat. So why is this our business?

Exactly, good to see some reality posts. In any case, all the Ukie war supporters will be stunned when post war analysis is published….from their massive losses to their massive corruption to their huge Banderite Nazi problem.

Absolutely everything about Ukraine stinks….that said, I think I will have some chicken Kiev for lunch….and Russian Bilini for dessert.
