Is that better, or worse, than the "murder of an innocent civilian?"
By extension, is that better, or worse, than the murder of a child? An infant? Abortion?
When everything is said and done, I suspect this story will have as many twists and turns as the Murdaugh killings in South Carolina.
As I understand it, if someone is willing to kill a public official, that makes them even more of a threat to the public at large......that’s the idea anyway.
Hopefully Dateline does an episode about the motive but it’s not Who done it, a why do it

Has it ever been stated why the Sheriff did this? Was there a long-standing beef between the two?
IIRC, the judge was having some hanky panky with the sheriff’s minor daughter?
As i understand it, judge mullins, a deputy (Ben Fields, who has been convicted) and other judicial officials were forcing female inmates to trade sexual favors in return for favourable legal treatment. Reortedly, the judge, among others, can be seen on video having sex with inmates in his chambers.
Stines was deposed in a civil lawsuit just 3 days before the shooting. Evidently he wasnt a participant, but he is accused of negligence in the suit since it was his deputy that was convicted.
Downgrade the charges to unlawful discharge of a weapon, and fine him a dollar.
Of all those, “murder of a public official” is the least heinous.
I pray the fella gets off if they are able to prove what the Judge was alleged to have done.
Yet when a public official crosses the line that public official is treated cordially and very softly regarding incarceration and care.
It is insane!!
