Six weeks after Ozzy Osbourne's death, Roger Waters has criticized the heavy metal legend for bringing "hundreds of years" of "idiocy and nonsense" into the culture, prompting an angry reply from Osbourne's son Jack.
While speaking to the Independent Ink podcast in the video embedded below, the Pink Floyd legend spoke about how pop culture figures can distract people from important political issues.
While roleplaying as an unspecified person of power, he imagined how the nefarious process might work: "How can we push this to one side? I know how to do it! We'll do it with Taylor Swift or bubble gum or Kim Kardashian's bum."
After switching out of character, Waters then brought Osbourne into the conversation: "... Or Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him, in his, whatever that state that he was in his whole life, we'll never know. Although, he was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense."

He didn't stop there, moving on to attack Osbourne's music: "The music, I have no idea, I couldn't give a fuck. I don't care about Black Sabbath, I never did, I have no interest in.... 'Wahhhh!!!' (spoken while sticking his tongue out and doing an impression that looked more like Gene Simmons than Osbourne) and biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. I couldn't care less."
When informed that Osbourne (accidentally, it should have been noted) bit the head off a bat, not a chicken, the Pink Floyd legend was even more revolted: "Oh my God, that's even worse, isn't it? I don't know, is it worse to bite the head off a bat or a chicken?"
Jack Osbourne Accuses Roger Waters of 'Vomiting Out Bullshit' Osbourne's son Jack was displeased with Waters' comments and hit back with the Instagram Stories message embedded below: "Hey Roger Waters - fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you've become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt - thanks for proving him right."
It's the second time in a week that one of Osbourne's children have come to his defense. Last week on WWE's Raw television show, professional wrestler Becky Lynch attacked Ozzy's hometown of Birmingham, promoting his daughter Kelly to call her a "disrespectful dirtbag."
The song lyrics of his music back then do not match his current words or actions. PAY ATTENTION!
I don't listen to music in order to hear politics. Just the opposite. I want to hear well composed rhythmically arraigned melodies and harmonies transpiring in time.
It used to be about the music.
Spoken as some self aggrandizing douchebag that is waters.
Talk about showmanship. Ozzy went out on a high note. “That’s it for me! You’ve been great!” I doubt Waters will ever be able to say that.
I never paid any mind to these artists and their music, so for me, Ozzy's main claim to fame was his fluency in "bleeping" language.
That said, it's sad that nobody seems to appreciate the sublime humor in his passing.

"Good enough for government work!" ~ Satan
“That’s it for me! You’ve been great!”
“...Yeah, like acting like a Nazi and bashing Jews like Roger Hitler Waters does...”
It must have BURNED Roger that Black Sabbath’s manager was a Jew, Ozzy’s second wife Sharon was a Jew, and all the kids he had with her are half-Jewish (at least by blood).
After all, Roger is known for things like floating inflatable pigs bedecked with Stars of David over the stage...
Roger Waters can Eff off. Ozzy in his prime rocked. Stink Floyd? Meh.
Another dick with ears has spoken.
“Pink Floyd was talentless and a phony.”
What does that say about their fans? How could they have been so stupid? What didn’t they know and when did they not know it?...Might as well try to say that the Monkees were more authentic and better than the Beatles! /s
I am willing to bet that if anyone asked, and Waters answered honestly, the reason Waters didn’t like Osbourne is Osbourne married a Jewish woman and his kids are Jewish.
His hatred is vast and insane.
You would think.
Waters mom was a real weirdo with a lot of legal and mental health problems. She made things much worse.
I agree with Jack.
That’s from the soundtrack of “La Valle’ “. My French call from Horseheads, NY went to Quebec in 1973 or so. We saw that film in a theatre there. It came out just before “ Dark Side of the Moon. I still have the vinyl.
Funny you mentioned that. I knew a guy that actually did that to his daughter’s boyfriend that he hated. After that he painted his Harley yellow with the Cheerios label on it and a Cheerios tattoo around his naval.
Class, not call.
LOL!!!
Heavy metal et al was just loud repulsive noise lacking any musical qualities or sophistication...and not unlike rap/hip-hop.
These genres targeted dumbed down low IQ sheeple and societal animals.
Roger is one of the examples of where I have to separate the art from the artist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are certainly many ‘artists’ who that comment applies to... on a case by case basis, there are some where the ‘separation’ you refer to can be applied. However, for me there is a large subset who I simply have permanently turned off and wouldn’t think in my wildest dreams of going to see in concert. Why would I give money to enrich someone who has expressed views I find so nauseating and disgusting?
I was a Black Sabbath fan long before I was a Pink Floyd fan.
Since I sobered up 12 years ago, I find that Pink Floyd created a lot of rather confusing and/or depressing music.
I still love Black Sabbath, though…
Ozzie was an odd duck - but in some ways, I found him likable....this guy pisses on his grave for no reason....
Lot of gullible people who do not think. Add some lasers to the show and people want to go. I knew no one who actually would put on a Pink Floyd record or disc. I knew a few who wanted people to think they were cool, but no one really did.
