Two pals took turns shooting each other in the head with a rifle while wearing kevlar helmets inside a home — with one man now being charged with the other’s murder, according to authorities.
The two pals were inside O’Donnell’s home — firing at each other with a rifle while wearing the bullet-resistant helmets when Prout was seriously injured by the gunfire.
Officials did not announce the type of rifle or how far away the two were from each other while taking the tragic target practice.
O’Donnell was charged with murder on Thursday and is currently booked in the Harris County Jail, according to the sheriff.

Asking for a doubting friend.
What good are friends if you can’t shoot each other in the head with rifles?
He won.
Remember the two morons that decided to snort fire ants in a line like it was cocaine? Dead in three minutes. Quite excruciating way to go, too.
I’ve never had these kind of thoughts cross my mind as something to do with a friend. Ever. Not like we didnt when younger play games with FAKE guns and shoot at each other. Guess we never imagined trying it with real ones. Course if we did, and we didn’t kill ourselves, our parents would have, so there was that...
An 8mm Mouser with 180 grain round nose soft point bullet will penetrate 800 IBM cards when shot point blank. That is about 6" of penetration.
The hole in the cards was like paper fuzz and the bullet was reduced to small particles.
A .30 caliber rifle bullet fired at close range will penetrate 1/2" of steel. The helmet wouldn't withstand such an impact.
Shooter is 37. Deceased 34.
Kevlar vests are replaced after certain incidents and at regular intervals. They must be replaced immediately if struck by a bullet or edged weapon. In addition, vests degrade over time due to exposure to environmental factors and daily wear, so they have a limited lifespan and should be replaced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, often every five years, to ensure continued protection.
But don’t determine how safe they are as I was hit twice and one got through and burned my chest. That one knocked me on my keyster and stunned the hell out of me. Iraq.

Now there’s a couple Einsteins!!!
O’Donnell was charged with murder.
His lawyer Wayne Whiplash told him we have a great case against kevlar helmets.
That makes sense and I’m glad yours saved you from serious pain and suffering. Thanks.
:) 😀
“I’m glad yours saved you from serious pain and suffering...”
You may have to define serious. When they hit they both knocked me down and the one actually burned into my chest leaving a scar. If I could find someone else, we’d drink to our chests. Thanks for the kind words.

Even if the kevlar helmet stopped the bullet from penetrating, the sheer force of the impact being absorbed by the helmet and the wearer would likely be fatal or at least cause a massive concussion with some permanent brain damage (which both apparently already had).
