Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trumpeted on social media how she successfully pushed to have dozens of new trash cans placed on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens.
Problem is, she ignored the real trash.
She was immediately mocked for ignoring the parade of johns, pimps and prostitutes flooding the avenue’s infamous “Market of Sweethearts.”
“Celebrating garbage cans is like putting sprinkles on s--- and calling it a birthday cake,” lambasted Elmhurst’s Ramses Frias, who’s running as a Republican candidate for City Council in Queens’ 25th District. “It’s all for show.”
“Of course, AOC won’t speak about what’s really happening here so she can keep up the facade that her district is amazing and a paradise.”
AOC, a Democrat and founding member of the socialist “Squad,” took to social media to declare her war on trash earlier this month.
“After meeting with local vendors and business owners, my office reached out to the New York City Department of Sanitation about the need for more trash cans along Roosevelt Ave,” she wrote on Aug. 8.
“Thanks to their quick response, 51 trash cans were installed! Grateful for their partnership in keeping our community clean!”
“That’s all you’re worried about on Roosevelt Ave?” slammed John Lomonaco on Facebook.

I take the 7 train to Citifield to go Mets games- i went last night...to call that area (Roosevelt Ave which the 7 train runs over) a craphole is insulting- insulting to crapholes...the place is much worse. I ride the train going to games, looking out the window and wonder how anyone could ever live amongst such filth....
When the illegals were being shipped to NYChitty a large number of them ended up on Roosevelt Avenue- the place looked like Times Square on NYE there were so many people just hanging around....the illegals were famous for going into local stores, stealing everything they could, then setting up a table outside the store to sell the stolen goods at a fraction of a price...
Its actually improved compared to what it was two years ago...the silver lining is as a result of all of this, eastern Queens and western Long Island have slowly turned bright red on the election map...
Roosevelt Avenue has become Rubber Place.
rubbers is what you would need if you dare walk the area- the illegals were running brothels on Roosevelt Avenue, unfettered, out in the open- if you were within three blocks of the area you risked getting STD’s just by breathing...

I left New York 45 years ago, and things have changed. Roosevelt Avenue was a little gritty, but there was no prostitution or other unsavory activity. I remember the TV series the King of Queens (which I very rarely watched) had a little shot of the Ice Queen of Corona in the opening sequence. I always thought that that place was the hidden gem of Queens.
No- i take the 7train to Mets games all the time, unlike Rocker.....its actually safer to be on the 7 train then on Roosevelt Ave itself
What a totally dysfunctional district and not only AOC. Why wouldn’t a city official, Council member, State Rep.....whatever.... not have gotten this done if it really was a need?

I used to work in a business across the street from Shea Stadium, approximately where Citi Field is today, I took the 7 train all the time. At the time, I would occasionally take the train with John Milner, rookie outfielder for the Mets. Then we would both take the Q44 bus to Jamaica. He was staying at the YMCA. He would smoke dope with a white kid I knew, probably shortened his career. The white kid was arrested for brandishing a gun on Parsons Boulevard while smoking dope in the middle of the night, and the DA wanted to crucify him.
