Jaw-dropping video captured the moment a teen driver backed his truck off a Massachusetts pier - sending the pickup plunging into the water and narrowly missing his dad's boat.
The dramatic ordeal began when the unidentified teen, who was delivering fish bait at the Green Harbor Town Pier in Marshfield on Sunday morning, suddenly sped up while reversing his white Ford truck, WHDH reported.
Stunned witnesses watched as the truck broke through the dock's wooden barrier and plummeted into the water below.
The truck appeared to topple over as it dropped 15 feet off the dock, barely missing his father's boat while the man was on board.
Miraculously, the teen was able to escape through the truck's back window and swim to the side of the pier, where fishermen pulled him to safety.
After he returned to the dock, the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
He did not sustain any serious injuries.

Teens are by definition inexperienced drivers - they cause a lot of accidents, over-inflate their driving skills and do not well understand power of cars and how quickly things can go very wrong (I think he probably stepped on the gas by accident).
There is a reason insurance companies charge teen drivers a LOT of money. Insurance companies do give a discount for good grades, I remember submitting my son's grades to them. Still, the cost was very high.
That’s true.
And only safety scissors.
Boats attract yahooligans. One reason why I avoid campgrounds with water features, especially on holiday weekends.
The answer is right there - teen driver.
I hit the tree at the head of the driveway at age 14. I had dad’s car. I didn’t get in trouble for the damage, which was minimal. I got in trouble for the panic when I pushed on the gas instead of the brake.
You can’t have a vehicle in the water story without that meme. 😏
We didn’t have a car in our house. I didn’t learn how to drive until I was married, and in may late 20’s. That’s when I learned how to drive a standard.
Watching the comings and goings activity at boat ramps may be THE best free entertainment in the history of civilization.

Living in Florida means ocean, river and lake boat ramps are practically everywhere.
I know some people that make an outing out of it, bringing food and having a few cold ones while watching the comedy unfold.
You should check out a couple of youtube channels....”Miami boatramps” and “Boats v/s Haulover”.....if you don’t laugh there’s something wrong with you. 😁
My Brother-in-law was the main person who taught my sister & me to drive. The very first thing he had us do was sit in the car (a big OLD Bonneville) and look around. He said something along the lines of “you see how big and heavy this car is?” “if you don’t pay attention and have control, things can go bad very quickly”. Made a huge impression on both of us. He also drove the car into a pile of snow and taught us how to get out of it safely, had us drive in rainstorms, stuff like that.
The only things I couldn’t get the hang of (and still don’t) was backing up for a long distance and backing-in parallel parking. My depth perception and directional sense is just off there. So, I can totally commiserate with this kid...
And when they get really old, just before they give up driving, they do the same thing.
So TRUE V-TWIN.. SO TRUE!
The real question is whether Taxachesetts made him pay for an extra launch fee at the boat docks.
Drugs and alcohol are not required in order to be stupid, but they sure help.
Me too at 16. I picked out a 72 Ford Pinto. After sealing the deal my dad said, “You bought it, you drive it.” I drove it. Hopped, skipped and jumped from every stoplight but I got it home.
Indeed LOL
Later in his 20's he worked for a valet company that serviced parties for the wealthy. He thanked me for him being the only one who could drive the high-end luxury sports cars (sticks). LOL
” I picked out a 72 Ford Pinto.”

The miracle is you lived to tell about it! 😏
