President Donald Trump on Monday boasted about the government’s new stake in Intel and said he’s determined to do similar deals.
“I will make deals like that for our Country all day long,” the president posted on Truth Social.
Trump added that “stupid people” are upset with a move that he said will bring more money and jobs to the U.S.

There’s always lots that CAN be done. But rarely SHOULD any of it be done.
If you want to develop chip making here then stop protecting the company that’s fallen behind. All that does is make it harder for a new company to show up. This actually impedes sinking money and effort into R&D because now investors would be silly to invest in competition against Intel.
And let’s keep in mind Intel’s biggest competition is AMD, headquartered in Santa Clara with major production in Austin. If you want to fluff a company to keep America competitive THAT’S the company to fluff. They’re American and they’re better.
Nope. I put a lot of work into developing critical thinking skills. I’m not gonna join a cult and let them rot. It’s a bad deal.
I am looking at the big picture. And the big picture shows that no government takeover of a company has led to the company making better products.
A kingdom is a good form of govt if you have a good king. A republic still needs good leadership, in an of it self means nothing.
At this time we have good leadership in govt. yes that may change.
this is not a take over, that is an image put in your mind by the media.
I’m sorry but President Trump has already built his real estate “empire”
If he (apparently) has more acquisitional aspirations, he can buy or build more nice hotels and resorts. With his own financing and for his own account.
The federal government and our tax money are not supposed to be acquiring private companies. I am accepting doing something about intel because we need microchips in our defense. But frankly this feels like a bit of a stretch and I’m hoping to see the feds get out of intel ASAP. certainly our immense private capital markets could’ve handled an 8 or 9B funding! (And if not, we have troubles far far far far larger than discussing this intel deal..)
Best for a happy Monday
Trump is a Populist who (occasionally) subscribes to Conservative ideals and principles such as pro-life, pro second amendment, for example.
That doesn't make him a Conservative.
I know that's going to piss some people off on here, too bad. It's true.
That doesn't make President Trump a bad person, it makes him an ally to at least some core Conservative principles, and I'll gladly take that as a win all day long.
Do I agree with everything President Trump does? No, but that's irrelevant because I LOVED President Reagan (who was a Democrat before becoming a Republican) and I didn't agree with everything he did either.
On balance, they're the two best Presidents of my 63 years on this planet. When I vote for President, I vote for the person who I think will make the best decision, knowing I won't always agree with them on everything, and that they have access to data points I do not. On that point, President Reagan and President Trump deliver. Hands down, better than any other President in my lifetime.
It will change. It always does. And it is a takeover. Sure the math is it’s just a piece. But know what government does once it has its nose in. And it also shows anybody thinking about spinning up competition against Intel that the government has picked sides against them. As Intel continues its slide, which will happen because it’s a poorly managed company, the government will throw good money after bad to protect its investment.
I feel the same way, and it's an issue of National Security also, IMO. Anyone who compares this to the Auto bailouts during the Obummer mis-administration misses the point: the auto industry was "bailed out" to lock in the UAW as reliable votes for the Democrat Party, thinking they'd lock Michigan as a blue state for decades.
Epic Fail.
Receipt: 2024 Election.
AMD doesn’t manufacture it’s own chips.
TSMC does.
Intel has US owned fabs.

What is YOUR solution. Do nothing but criticize? let Intel die? Just throw money at the situation? Give a grant with no accountability? lend them money? I’ll take trumps govt investment in Intel over the international money investment.
They have been many good govt/private enterprises. I trust Trump and his team to do it the right way. Look at the leadership, not the organizational structure.
The goal is MAGA.
The alternative to this is what? Think about that.
AMD uses others, and does its own. And TSMC has plants in America. And if Intel starts struggling more AMD could buy their fabs here. But instead we’re propping up Intel, so that can’t happen.
Let the market be the market. Capitalism is red in tooth and claw. Corporate failures present opportunities for other. Propping up failing companies doesn’t make them great, it stifles greatness.
TSMC is infiltrated.
Please Mr. President, for the love of God do not revive Too Big To Fail and the bailouts.
Let the market be the market.
Then we continue to move to less federal govt. Again, there is a role for govt in capitalism. Capitalism is not pure, it needs to be restrained just like govt does.
The federal govt has some mandated purposes, national defense. There are priorities. National defense is pretty high right now.
Trump has proven himself to us again and again. Let him work the plan.
Understood.
Michigan auto workers aren’t naturally pro- fascist but threaten to take away their jobs and they’ll embrace whatever rescue is on offer.
Socialism is socialism. Government out of private business.

AMD designs but doesn’t manufacture chips, it outsources to Taiwan.
I think it’s a fantastic idea, the Donald is trying to help them out. I didn’t hear too much b-—hing when the Gov’t bailed out GM and Chrysler, Ford said no.
The role for government in capitalism is NOT deciding who the winners are. And it’s especially not tying to a loser and trying to make them the winners. The fact is Intel is behind the curve. And has been for ages. They were late to the 32-bit party, they were late to the 64-bit party, they were late to the GPU party, their chips are underpowered and overpriced. They’re just not a good company. Any plan that revolves around protecting Intel from themselves is a stupid plan.
And he’s still realistic the man know business very well.
