I forget who said a bird needs both wings to fly (I.e., politically right and left). But I agree with you. Instead of standing up to the insane elements, what passes for responsible leaders in the party are caving to them. I think schism is the best long term solution
This is why I keep saying Trump should form a new Mega party.
He would get most of the Republicans disillusioned with the Rinos running things.
And he would get many of the Democrats that are disillusioned with how insane their party has become.
It would not be a third party spoiler, it would instantly be the biggest party.
We sure as hell don’t want them.
If the Republicans manage to push the Democrat party into extinction, the Republicans will quickly split into hostile factions which could form the basis for a new two-party system.
I note that the Democrats are doing a fine job of destroying their brand and alienating core supporters without any help from the Republicans. It will require a very small, consistent push to complete the transition.
Donald Trump will not be President by the time such things could happen, but he could be the leader of the MAGA Republican faction which forms a new party.
It is too early to try anything like that just yet. The Democrats must be shoved off the stage first.
The left's base is not homogenous; I'ts made up of many factions, divided along religious, ethnic, and lifestyle lines. All vie with one another for priority within the party (black vs. Hispanic, feminist vs. trans, union workers vs. illegals, etc.). All want the biggest share of attention, the most clout, the biggest piece of the pie. Some or most are in direct opposition to each other.
The DNC has done an exceptional job of keeping them on the plantation up to now, but it shouldn't surprise anyone to see some groups slipping away (young males and some traditionally democrat-leaning unions, for example).
The MSM plays up the MAGA/RINO schism within the GOP but it could be the DNC that splits into warring fragments.

Exactly. We already have a MAGA party. it's the GOP and President Trump has almost total control over it, save for a dwindling number of troublemakers. And Trump is running them out of the party one after the next.
President Trump is playing the long game in remaking the Republican Party in his direction. Forming a "MAGA Party" would be a recipe for disaster.

There was a previous time in which the Ds looked close to collapse and people thought it was time to form a third party, close out the Dems and shift the country right.
Then the left introduced their creation Barak and upped their fraud to a new level and used the ensuing four years to embed hardcore communists into all levels of society.
We have some work to do before considering that again, including necessarily rooting out DC embeddeds and fixing the election system.
With anything like a fair ballot, I’d be happy with the choice of the (live, real, and eligible) vote.

Get rid of the Communists and all the Academics. Then they can appeal to everyone once again.
But I don't see that happening because right now they are the two major factions in the party (and they sort of overlap with each other).
There are other factions in the party but they are not influential at all. You have the Union Bosses but they have no power because the rank and file voted for Trump in the past three elections.
Blue collar private sector union workers-moving to the Republican party. Union leadership not so much but maybe slower.
Government union members and leaders-still an important part of the Rat Party.

Gay men know that they’re men. Gay women know that they’re women. They do not confuse same sex attraction with biological reality. Those brighter than a cucumber — that leaves out the hard core lefties and the clinically insane, but it still includes a lot of people — know that the trans delusion is nonsense.
The gay men don’t particularly see the trans thing as a threat because females pretending to be male aren’t beating them out for spots on the team roster, and identifying as male, everything else being equal, is a license for employers and government to discriminate against you. Gay women, however, are aware of the threat. It’s their spaces being invaded. It’s their spots on the team and on the medal stand that are being taken by female impersonators. It’s their gender preference points that are being misappropriated by cosplaying men.
As far as celebrities are concerned: I think a big part of what we are seeing is more of the closeted conservatives coming out. In academia, Hollywood, and a number of other fields, the leftist blacklist is real and extreme. There’s no doubt that the left has driven a lot of people out of these fields, or never gave them the chance to get established, but it’s also true that a surprising number of moderate or conservative people — the sane people — have been keeping their heads down and trying to survive. If the dam breaks, their numbers could grow rapidly — but the gatekeepers have to be disarmed.
