You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days.  If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Happy Sunday!

Let us know if you like doing the daily cryptograms.

Better yet, without giving away the solution, tell us how you solved it.

e.g. “The 4 letter word, that began and ended with the same letter, opened it for me like a ripe melon,” or “I recognized the author’s name and it was all down hill from there,” etc.

The author’s name got me started. I’ll bet it was Gidget.

..Let us know if you like doing the daily cryptograms....

Very very much.
I start each day with cryptograms

I normally look to solve the vowels.
Then, small words with common letters, such as “the”
Then, words after a “,”. Very few words follow a “,” and are used to combine two thoughts (if that makes sense cause my coffee is almost ready)

Let us know if you like doing the daily cryptograms.

I do these every day. I usually complete them after breakfast. I try to find the letter “e”, then the shorter words, then I let individual words pop out for me.

I do these every day and usually try to find the most common letter. Today, I started with the three-letter word after the comma, which then led me to the author.

Thanks to the four of you who post these, and to all who post such fun clues.

I start with letter frequency and location.
I look forward to this starting my day.

I do these while waking up waiting for coffee to brew..

More often than not I end up using apparent word patterns and see what fits. Now and then a familiar word jumps out.

I am a rank amateur a this.

...Let us know if you like doing the daily cryptograms...

I enjoy the daily cryptograms very much. I especially like the variety. I never know if the puzzle is going to be lighthearted or somber, which keeps things interesting for me.

I don’t have a “recipe” for completing the puzzles. I try this and that until I get an answer.

Sometimes, the clues are helpful. Sometimes, they make more sense after I complete the cryptogram.

Above all, many thanks to you and the rest of the cryptogram gurus for taking your time to post these puzzles (free of charge and without fail) for the rest of us to enjoy.
