Alef Aeronautics, a San Mateo-based company, plans to test its new flying car design at the Hollister Municipal Airport.
The vehicle is a 100 percent electric flying car capable of driving on streets and taking off and landing vertically.
Staff from the Hollister Airport Advisory Commission are preparing a use agreement for a one-month trial to present to the Hollister City Council for consideration this coming September.
What could possibly go wrong?
About time. These were promised 60 years ago.
I must have an irrational fear of flying cars. Because people want them and there’s always someone trying to meet that want.
But then I watch how people drive on marked, paved roads with traffic signals and everything and my fear reasserts itself.
Flying buses that go straight from airbus stop to airbus stop with trained professionals at the controls (and in the airbus barns to maintain them) I’ve learned to live with.
Zackly.
Doctor Emmett Brown said we would have flying cars years ago.
A small wager, like the companies operating self-driving vehicles, that there will be political pressure to hold-harmless some companies.... so that taxpayers will have to be "involved."
We are living in the future
I’ll tell you how I know
I read it in the paper
Fifteen years ago
We’re all driving rocket ships
And talking with our minds
And wearing turquoise jewelry
And standing in soup lines
We are standing in soup lines
hopefully future arial highways won’t pass over my house!
I’m still waiting for the personal flying saucers forecast by The Jetsons fifty years ago.
I had to get a pilot’s license to fly, I don’t want licensed drivers in the sky.
Flying cars with no air traffic control.
Should be fun.
Go back to your outhouse😄m
Nothing, of course. After all, it's 100% electric!
Give the maniacs currently restricted to two dimensions a third. Hilarity will ensue. Kind of rough for anyone underneath, though.
If Elon builds them, they are self-flying and they all talk to each other constantly to stay out of each other’s way—then maybe I’ll think about it. Meanwhile I’ll stick to flying a Piper, Cessna or a Zenith STOL “Skyjeep”.
Flying car bomb, is what pops into my mind.
lol...
