I am not sure what this actually does for the wild animals. The only difference is the animals get to butcher their own mesl

They might feed them the carcass intact which is closer to how the animal would eat in the wild then the Purina Lion Chow they normally get.

Processed food is broken down more completely by the body which means you can eat the same food in the same amount and get more calories out of the processed than you do the unprocessed.

I know they ran an experiment where they fed two bunches of animals the same diet except one was ground up and one was intact and the animals on the ground up diet gained weight.
