A parsec maybe...............
Let me guess: Like Fusion Reactors, it’s 20 years away.
Yes. I think these have already been developed for the USS Enterprise as well as the warp drive. Do we REALLY need to invent these things like deja vu all over again?
That is exactly the attitude that killed the Apollo program. The problem with this way of thinking is nuclear weapons. Mankind has possessed the means for self destruction for decades now . It's amazing it has not happened yet. The sooner Civilization expands off planet the better. That will be the guarantee that Civilization will continue even if some Mozlem nutcase decides to end the infidels once and for all.
I’ll take Epstein drive.
Ya canna mix mater and antimatter cold
Shoot. I invested heavily in the chronosynclastic infundibulum.
this new concept uses floating bubbles ... and capitalizes on the idea that spacetime bubbles can behave almost however they like.
Just like stock market, and many other kinds of bubbles.
the only problem is the fact you can never accurately predict when a bubble will burst.
in the spacetime case, the effects could be really bad.
Geez, they don’t even know Star Trek fiction.
Warp engines DO NOT propel the ship. It creates a warp bubble around the ship as the impulse engines propel the vessel. Otherwise the ship would turn to energy as it approached light speed.
Going from Warp 1 to Warp 2 increases the bubble strength to move the bubble faster. The higher the Warp, the faster it moves the bubble. Theoretically Warp 10 is like 100 times the speed of light.
The thing is, that raises an interesting question, since the ship isn’t moving, just spacetime around it, what is the delta-v between the ship and a grain of sand at the boundary that passes into the warp bubble. My guess is whatever v the sand had relative to what the ship had when it started, but that’s just a guess, and there may be a whole ‘nother level of considerations of which I’m ignorant.
Mel Brooks already invented this—the craft goes ludicrous speed.
Lol.
I would add a way to deflect space debris. Imagine hitting a small chunk of something at the speed of light. I doubt good things would happen.
Aye, but I’ll do it anyway Cap’n.
O’Reilly’s is sposoring the former Xfinity Cup races next year.
Will they be providing the Flux capasitors for each car?
Boeing recently patented a plasma shield that blocks shockwaves.
A lot of meaningless words, having no connection to real life. All this verbal diarrhea firmly belongs to the entertainment industry.
It was once believed that no aircraft could exceed the speed of sound......
Eventually, we'll figure it out. In terms of astrophysics, we're simply in the infant stage. And there is nothing that can convince me that there is not another life form in the vast universe that is thousands, if not millions, of years more advanced than us that have already figured out the unknowns that we haven't even thought of yet.
