VOLODYMYR Zelensky has said he is "counting on America" as Donald Trump prepares to greet Vladimir Putin on the runway after he lands in Alaska.

The embattled Ukrainian president said he hopes the peace summit between the two leaders leads to a trilateral meeting to get Ukraine involved in the peacemaking process.

It comes after Trump blasted Vladimir Putin for continuing to attack Ukraine and said his urge to kill "might be in his genes".

-snip-

Trump says tyrant Putin’s need to kill ‘might be in his genes’ but onslaught ‘hurts his He said: "In [Putin's] mind, it helps him make a better deal if they can continue the killing.

"Maybe it's a part of the world, maybe it's a part of his fabric, his genes, his genetics, but he thinks it gives him strength in negotiating.

"I think it hurts him."

Trump also warned that Russia faces "very severe" consequences if Putin doesn't appear interested in agreeing to a peace deal during the summit.

Don has voiced concerns over how Putin may behave during the talks already, as he described the summit as being like a chess game.

Trump reiterated these thoughts as he took to Truth Social shortly before he left Washington to simply say: "HIGH STAKES!!!"negotiations’ as leaders head to Alaska for Ukraine peace summit.

How totally ignorant and how little you understand the old KGB and GRU organizations. They had then and now probably had/have the best Intelligence services in the world.

Our country has a great many people with guns and who are willing and able to use them.

Our country only has Democrats trying to leave. My wife and I personally know a Ukrainian family that left, save for the husband. They lived off the main Square in Kiev and went to a bunch of social dances and such with other UN groupies, over the years. The UN was going to save them, until they decided to flee.

The US would draft people starting at 18. Ukraine started at 27.

Yeah, Ukraine and Little z are a problem of their own making.

What do you think should be done to the Russians? That includes all Russians.

Maybe killing IS in Putin’s genes. Just like grifting is in Zelenskyy’s genes. They’re both TERRIBLE PEOPLE!

Of course, Zelensky would have a better and more complete understanding why a Russian demand would be unreasonable.

The whacked-out cokehead who keeps feeding his men into the Russian guns.

“as Don travels...” How disrespectful is that!

I agree that is disrespectful.

But I take Mad Max's disrespect as a positive of sorts.

Mad Max realizes the gig is almost up and he is preparing to dump his dismay and blame on Trump.

Even if Trump comes to some sort of terms with Putin, Zelensky will 86 any agreement in the next phase which Trump has said will happen.

In Trump's mind he was required to meet with Putin before he could walk away.

This meeting gives Trump something to hang his hat on.

He can honestly look the whole world in the face and honestly say, I tried everything, but neither side wanted to stop the killing.

“it helps him make a better deal if they can continue the killing”

It probably does.

The Russians simply can’t match the American Military-Industrial Complex under Republican management, as they learned from Reagan. The Russians are simply not going to bite on a ceasefire deal that will decrease their bargaining power.

“The whacked-out cokehead who keeps feeding his men into the Russian guns.”

The Ukrainians are still defending their territory quite well, and I don’t think they are losing men at a much faster rate than Russia.

I can’t say what the loss ratio is (and the ratio changes based on frequent Russian stupidity).

It’s Zelensky’s job to try to have the territory of Ukraine defended. Like Robert E. Lee, he’s supposed to do the best he can.

I don’t think Trumps statement was helpful. However it’s not untrue.
Putin is the one that’s isolating himself. Russia’s economy is unidimensional; energy. Instead of wasting blood and treasure on war, he could’ve use oil revenues to diversify his economy and create deeper ties with Europe. Instead, he has caused Finland and Sweden to join NATO. Europeans view Russia as a buffoonish pariah nation and will hate them for decades.
You purport to be an expert in Russian history. Why have the historically great Russian leaders such as Peter and Catherine the Great, Alexander sought to emulate European culture and obtain their technology? These leaders played important roles in European politics and the balance of power. Now all Putin is doing is alienating Europe and engaging in a futile attempt to recreate Stalin’s empire.
Instead of joining the West, Russia has turned towards China as its benefactor. It even needs NK to supply them with cannon fodder. The demographically doomed Russia has a population of only 10% of China’s
Russia is of course a nuclear power to be taken seriously, but its global influence is declining . It appears to be sliding into vassal state status to China.

The same Western Media machine that colluded in the coup against Trump is telling you that Russian losses are horrendous.

Quotes:

Anyone who wants to understand Vladimir Putin today needs to know the story of what happened to him on a dramatic night in East Germany [in 1989]

Crowds storm the Dresden headquarters of the Stasi, the East German secret police, who suddenly seem helpless.

Then a small group of demonstrators decides to head across the road, to a large house that is the local headquarters of the Soviet secret service, the KGB.

shortly afterwards “an officer emerged - quite small, agitated”.

“He said to our group, ‘Don’t try to force your way into this property. My comrades are armed, and they’re authorised to use their weapons in an emergency.’”

Putin had wanted to join the KGB since he was a teenager, inspired by popular Soviet stories of secret service bravado

Putin-watchers believe events such as the uprising on Kiev’s Maidan Square, have revived bad memories - above all, of that night in Dresden in December 1989.

There are millions of Russian ethnics that live outside the Russian Federation but in the territory that was the Soviet Union.

The cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg do not have the jobs or the housing to accommodate them.

Putin needs to be sure that these Russian ethnics can remain and prosper where they now reside without discrimination.

“he could’ve use oil revenues to diversify his economy”

“he” is using “oil revenues to diversify his economy”

Lots of stuff that used to be imported now gets made in Russia.

Harry Truman became President in a very capable USA.

“diversify his economy”

Quotes:

Russia purchased over 22,000 computer numerical control (CNC) machines and components worth $18.2 billion from abroad since 2023, as per recent research.

The total includes more than 10,000 CNC machines worth $403 million and more than $4 billion worth of machine tools, United24 media reported, citing research conducted by the Economic Security Council, a Ukrainian NGO.

CNC machines are automated tools controlled by programmed instructions to precisely manufacture parts by cutting, drilling, milling or shaping materials – a necessary manufacturing tool to scale modern arms production.

The research estimated that Russia imported over $12.8 billion of CNC components, of which almost 50% were produced in China, followed by around 20% from Switzerland.

Are you a Russian? You do seem to be a very patriotic Russian.
Russia has a very big, strong economy (11th GDP) and a population almost as big as Bangladesh. Life expectancy and birth rates are pretty phenomenal too!
