The South can be a strange and exciting place.

Paulina Mejia was getting ready to go to work on Friday when she spotted something that unfortunately wasn’t unfamiliar.
Her 2-year-old playful German Shepherd mix, Chicarin, dragged home human remains.

Yep, a family in Birmingham, Alabama, found their dog bringing home human remains — for the fourth time in less than a year.
As reported by PEOPLE:
Deputies responded on Aug. 9 after a homeowner in the Center Point area reported that their 2-year-old German Shepherd mix, Chicarin, had once again brought home what appeared to be part of a human skeleton, according to WVTM-13, AL.com and WBRC.
The remains were recovered and sent to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Investigators also searched a nearby wooded area, where they found additional remains, WVTM-13 reported.
This has been an ongoing problem for the family.
It's the latest twist in a series of grim discoveries involving Chicarin. The investigation began on Aug. 20, 2024, when Mejía's husband spotted the family's two dogs, Chicarin and another named Chicarone, who is no longer with the family, playing with a skull on the roadway next to their home, AL.com reported.
'He just saw her with the other dog playing with a skull,' she told the outlet. 'My husband was like, "This does not look right."'
Yeah, I'd say your dogs playing soccer with a human head "doesn't look right."
Here is a local news report that lays out the timeline of the "finds." 👇

Authorities cross-checked the DNA of the remains with national databases but have not found any matches. The investigation is ongoing.
At some point, you have to consider the possibility that the dog is a serial killer, right? 😭
My dog got a squirrel once
Those north Florida people will kill ya dead man.....scary weirdos
😁/./././././././././././././
The bits and pieces the dogs are bringing home likely all came from a single grave / corpse out in the boonies.
Or someone waiting in line at the local DMV office.
Dog found a gang or mob dumping ground.
That was a BIG squirrel.
WENDELL: Yessir. None of the three had ID on em but they're tellin' me all three is Mexicans. Was Mexicans.
SHERIFF BELL: There's a question. Whether they stopped bein'. And when.
WENDELL: Yessir.
SHERIFF BELL: Now, did you inquire about the cylinder lock?
WENDELL: Yessir. It was punched out.
SHERIFF BELL: Okay.
WENDELL: You gonna drive out there?
SHERIFF BELL: No, that's the only thing I would've looked for. And it sounds like these boys died of natural causes.
WENDELL: How's that, Sheriff?
SHERIFF BELL: Natural to the line of work they was in.
WENDELL: Yessir.
SHERIFF BELL: My lord, Wendell , it's just all-out war. I don't know any other word for it. Who are these folks? I don't know. (He rattles the paper) Here last week they found this couple out in California they would rent out rooms to old people and then kill em and bury em in the yard They'd torture em first, I don't know why. Maybe their television set was broke. And this went on until, and here I quote: (He looks through his glasses at the paper)
SHERIFF BELL: (reading) ”Neighbors were alerted when a man ran from the premises wearing only a dog collar.” You can't make up such a thing as that. I dare you to even try. (He peers over his glasses at Wendell, who respectfully shakes his head and tsks. Sheriff Bell rattles the paper again.) But that's what it took, you'll notice. Get someone's attention. Diggin’ graves in the back yard didn't bring any.
(Wendell bites back a smile. Sheriff Bell gazes at him over his glasses for a long beat, deadpan)
SHERIFF BELL: That's all right. I laugh myself sometimes. (He goes back to the paper) There ain't a whole lot else you can do.
That’s Humorous!
Comes from “chicharra”, which is Spanish for cicada, and comes from the fried pork rind’s resemblance to the discarded exoskeleton of the insect.
I did not know that root word!

I am, as The Colonel’s Wife reminds me regularly, a font of useless knowledge...
Great product. Break them up and put them in chili or cold tomato based soup like Gazpacho. Also good as an ingredient in guacamole.
