I do not believe there is any substantial and direct evidence that can be independently examined and verified to prove that extraterrestrials have visited Earth exists.

Supposition, correlation, inferences, affidavits, fuzzy video, clearer video, pictures, cover-ups, etc... are all too weak arguments, in my opinion, to concretely answer the enormity of the question "Are we alone?"

Charles Fort, of “Book of the Damned” fame, made a similar point. An obvious alien could go up to a person and introduce themselves and people still wouldn’t believe it.

The problem is that's not the "evidence" we have. All we have are people saying they saw a light in the sky and from that they extrapolate it was a alien space craft. They're the ones who are so desperate to believe they'll believe anything.

Misidentifications. Pranks. Hoaxes. Con artists making a buck off gullible rubes.
