Trump threatens 'very severe' consequences if Russia doesn't agree to end Ukraine war

President Donald Trump threatened "very severe consequences" for Russia if President Vladimir Putin doesn’t agree to end the war in Ukraine after their meeting in Alaska on Friday.

-snip-

Trump later appeared to cast doubt on whether he could convince Putin to stop bombing Ukrainian civilians.

"I'll tell you what. I've had that conversation with him. I've had a lot of good conversations with him then I go home and I see that a rocket hit a nursing home or a rocket hit an apartment building, and people are laying dead in the streets," Trump said.

"So, I guess the answer to that is no, because I've had this conversation. I want to end the war. It's Biden's war, but I want to end it. I'll be very proud to end this war, along with the five other wars I ended. But, I guess the answer to that is probably no," Trump continued.

His threat has gone from severe to very severe. This can’t bode well for Putin.

“This can’t bode well for Putin.”

By which I mean Modi. If the talks fail Modi is gonna get clobbered. Better watch out, Modi.

Hoping for success out of Trump’s efforts, but cant’ help but wonder...is this the consequences of the 55 day warning, or the 12 day warning, or, is this a different “very severe”?

From the Irshman movie: When they say they are a little concerned, it means they are worried.

When they say they are very concerned, They are desperate.

I hope Trump does not feel desperate here to get a deal. There is little reason for Putin to give up on his conquest. I see little wiggle room so why make ultimatums that cannot be backed up.

Yeah I know Europe should have stopped Hitler when he went into the Suddeten Land and that was a prelude to his trying to gobble up all of west Europe. That was then, this is now. While there is a parallel, things are far different. IMO, the Nazis were defeated because Hitler invaded Russia, two front war. More importantly, he could do little to the US logistics considered. Different time, different situation.

The only thing I wonder about and a quote from the movie Paton is appropriate. Paton had just issued an order that no one was to come back from a battle without victory. His aide said to him, sometimes George, I cannot tell when you are blustering. Paton said, it is not important for you or anyone else to know when I am.

So magnanimous. All he cares about is stopping the killing. No financial or Geo political interest at all. The only thing that matters to him is human life. Now about Gaza… This whole thing is nothing but theater.

Despite all the big talk, he’s not going into direct combat with Russians. And we’ve already sanctioned everything we can. All we can do from here is sanctioned half of the world on Ukraine’s behalf, and further give me for a reason why they need BRICS more.

Hate to see it, and I didn’t predict it, but he’s been enthralled by the neocons and Netanyahu

“Yeah I know Europe should have stopped Hitler when he went into the Suddeten Land and that was a prelude to his trying to gobble up all of west Europe.”

I keep hearing that “. In this case, Putin learned the lesson of Munich and the Sudetenland very well. He understands that the only way to stop an enemy that will not negotiate and his intent on spreading their tentacles everywhere is to have them hit a brick wall. NATO and the DC/London axis have an absolute goal of completely encircling Russia and then starting to chip away with their openly stated goal of breaking them up into several countries. They are well aware that DC and London have no intent to negotiate in good faith, and cannot be trusted. They really have no alternative except to physically stop them and their Uke Nazi proxy.

Getting other countries and cartels to lower oil prices along with making deals with European countries (Besides Russia and its allies) involving increasing natural gas exports could cripple Russia’s economy six ways to Sunday. There are some sinister stuff (”Hacking” targeted “stuff” with our own comp geeks) the US could engage in as well. Just a matter of will since the US is resource heavy.

There is no of any consequence left to sanction or tariff.

Implementing sanctions on secondary countries that would harm our economy would be political suicide.

Why on earth would OPEC agree to that?
