Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) accused President Trump of a “raw authoritarian power grab” after the president moved to federalize the District of Columbia’s police department and call the National Guard to the District’s streets.
“He’s playing dictator in our nation’s capital as a dress rehearsal as he pushes democracy to the brink,” Van Hollen wrote on social platform X.
“And by the way, Trump couldn’t care less about safety in DC or the people of DC. If he did, he wouldn’t have blocked DC from spending $1 billion of its OWN money to fund its OWN police department, schools and more,” the Maryland senator added, referring to a government funding bill that blocked the District from spending already-appropriated funds. “This is flatly about testing the limits of his power.”

Can I refill your margarita, Van Hollen?
Overwhelming the dems! Love it! They can’t take their own tactics;-)
This jerk has zero self awareness. Someone should tell him he’s a flaming asshole.
When you abuse, someone has to take charge.
In a sinking of a large ship like the Titanic, sometimes extreme measures need to be taken by the Captain. Sail On, Donald J. Trump.
Kilmar’s BFF has Schiff for brains.
Can we move as fast as possible and give the non-fed portions of DC to Maryland? That will at least shut up the statehood mafia.
Marxist Communist hyperbole. Utter nonsense.
Deep state Lizards do not like having their tangled web of corruption, deceit , lies and crime torn down.
“He’s playing dictator in our nation’s capital as a dress rehearsal as he pushes democracy to the brink,” Van Hollen wrote on social platform X. Well Chris, this nation is a constitutional republic, so I think we’re OK.
If it’s anti republican anything, we are putting democracy.at risk (good!) and they are trying to save it. Amazing that so many people don’t know this ain’t a democracy.
The President has 100% authority to do this for the special District of Columbia, since it has no state government and no Governor. Pres Trump IS the Governor of DC. He is simply doing what the Blue Mayors and Blue Governors refuse to do with Blue populations.
Ever notice that, when Biden and Obama contorted the rules of Democracy to the breaking point, the Democrats were mute? Today, because Trump lives rent-free in their heads, they can’t stop shouting at windmills...
These Dems. sound stupid anymore. On T.V. and in Politics.
I love to see democrats pushed to the brink! AND BEYOND!
If he did, he wouldn’t have blocked DC from spending $1 billion of its OWN money to fund its OWN police department, schools and more,”

Four days ago it was 20 million. We really do have inflation.
Folks, all Trump is doing by cutting resources is cut the fat, get down to business, do more with less.
This also brings the issues to attention, it is another way of stirring the pot.
Any damn fool can “manage” when funds are unlimited.
A message to the odious Chris Van Hollen: Pain is coming for you, much more.
It has only been 8 months that President Trump has been in office. There are more than 3 YEARS to go. A large amount of excruciating punishment is scheduled to be inflicted on you scumbag Marxist democrats. Glory be to God, justice is coming for the evil Rat minions. Hallelujah!
Better steal another election...to save Our Democracy.
Blah, blah, blah.... Van Hollen is a disgrace. Dems seem to be working a regular rotation with the ‘threat to democracy’ and ‘save our deomcracy’ talking points.
