European Union member states are considering easing sanctions on Russia if it reaches a permanent ceasefire with Ukraine, Sky News reported on Wednesday. According to anonymous sources "close to the EU Council presidency," the sanctions would be lifted gradually and could be reimposed if Russia breaks the ceasefire.

The report also cited an Italian official as saying that EU leaders will put pressure on United States President Donald Trump to involve Europe in his negotiations with Russia and push for "clear military, economic and political guarantees" for Ukraine. The source argued that Europe "must be involved in these decisions" after agreeing to Trump's demand to ramp up defense spending.

Probably more to do with the oil trading countries....like India...I have to look at the other countries that still trade with Russia for their oil/gas, too?

If Putin wants to be associated with Europe then there is a chance we will get something. Russia is European after all. But he does not need us or Europe at all. China and India alone are enough to buy his resources and keep him plenty rich. He never needs Europe. He never needs the US. In two countries he has access to a third of the world. And they too have friends. The Brick nations now count over twenty. And many of them are very large as well.

Russia can play in that sphere happily. Yes you have to fight for whats yours. But that is very true with Europe and the US as well. We have proved to the world that we are a very unreliable and demanding ally. China and India are predictable.

And now that Russia has gone through the pain of separating itself from the dollar, they really have no need to go back.
They have proven to themselves and the world that life outside the dollar exists and can support life as well as happiness.

Putin will end the war on his terms, because he can. We have very little to offer him.

This is proof that even the EU knows Ukraine's defenses are collapsing on the frontlines.

Russia isn't settling for anything less than Ukraine conceding all annexed territory it controls and for guarantees Ukraine will remain a neutral country going forward.

Get a clue but what is actually going on in the world:

Kremlin losing the South Caucasus and threatening Azerbaijan with new “special military operation”

“the State Duma also began discussing a toughening of policy toward Azerbaijan after reports that Baku is considering lifting the moratorium on arms supplies to Ukraine if Russia continues its aggressive stance against Azerbaijan’s interests”

Putin must be terrified. /s

“If Azerbaijani goods disappear from Russian store shelves”

That will probably mean less fresh fruit in Moscow. That and no cashews from India will make Putin yield. /s

“NATO bases could appear in the Caspian Sea region”

Russia could send nuclear missiles to Venezuela, which could forward them on to Cuba.

How was I to know Maduro would get rid of our gift?

In 1914, the Western world got disrupted over the death of a few people. Communism lingers on in Asia.
