Hundreds of National Guard troops were expected to flood the streets of Washington DC as President Donald Trump threatens a federal takeover of the capital.
The move came as Trump blasted the crime and homelessness in DC while deploying 120 FBI agents to work alongside D.C. police and other federal law enforcement officers in the nation's capital.
'The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital,' Trump posted on Truth Social. 'The Criminals, you don't have to move out. We're going to put you in jail where you belong,'
'Be prepared! There will be no "MR. NICE GUY." We want our Capital BACK.'
The president has likened his plans for D.C. as similar to his administration's aggressive crackdown against illegal immigration at the southern border.
He plans to hold a press conference on the issue at The White House on Monday.
'I'm going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before,' he said while pledging to 'immediately clear out the city's homeless population and take swift action against crime.'
'It's all going to happen very fast, just like the Border,' Trump posted.
Two U.S. officials told Reuters on Sunday that the US military was preparing for the activation of hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington, D.C.
The officials said a final decision was still to be made by Trump but the troops were prepared to deploy.

I was glad that he is finding place for them to stay. I know he wants to get many help with mental issues and addiction. He’s a good man. What is sad is leaving them alone in a life of despair.
He’s going to move them to a better location. Take care of them . Probably many are mentally ill.
The worst part of DC is the Naval Yards. Every night a thousand local hoodlums take over the park. It would take 200 national guard for just one park.
This is a big moment in time because the hoodlums will shoot at the Guard. And the Guard will have to shoot back. It will be bigger than Kent State.

I hate to say this as a Maryland resident, but DC should be returned to Maryland. The Official Washington area can be retained as Washington DC. There will be very limited residency in the new district. (POTUS, VPOTUS and hotels) Everyone else is now a Maryland Resident.
