Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reposted a CNN segment about a pastor who believes women should not vote on the social media platform X.
The segment largely focuses on Pastor Doug Wilson, a Christian nationalist who cofounded the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC) in Idaho.
The report shows Wilson advocating for a Christian nation and entertaining the idea that women should not vote.
“I would like to see this nation being a Christian nation, and I would like this world to be a Christian world,” Wilson said.
The clip also shows fellow pastor Toby Sumpter, saying, “In an ideal society, we would vote as households,” and Jared Longshore, another pastor, saying he would support repealing the 19th Amendment.
Amy Prince, a parishioner interviewed for the segment, said her husband “is the head of our household, and I do submit to him.”
Wilson, in the video, also says he does not believe women should hold leadership positions in the military, nor should they be able to fill high-profile combat roles.
This echoes a similar sentiment from Hegseth. In December 2024, the Pentagon chief said, “I’m straight up just saying that we should not have women in combat roles. It hasn’t made us more effective, hasn’t made us more lethal, has made fighting more complicated.”
The CNN video shows a video of Pete Hegseth attending a service at Wilson’s church.
This comes as the Trump administration has sought to eradicate “anti-Christian” bias in the government, even issuing a February executive order on the matter.
Hegseth hosted a prayer service in the Pentagon earlier this year, which, according to the report segment, has become a monthly event.
Trump also created a White House Faith Office led by Rev. Paula White, who characterizes herself as a “cultural reformer.”

IT IS A VERY LONG STRETCH FROM “NO WOMEN IN COMBAT ROLES” TO NOT BEING ALLOWED TO VOTE.
THIS “PASTOR” WOULD NEVER GET ONE PIECE OF SUPPORT FROM ME.
HOW ABOUT THE MILLIONS OF US WHO RE “THE ONLY HOUSEHOLD?”””
Was your ex a believing Christian before joining that church?
Free Speech no bueno?

Buta
Sorry to say, our downhill ride started with female suffrage.
Except for the millions of us who voted for Trump. 🙄
Neville Shute advanced a similar idea in “In The Wet,” an excellent read.
