US aiming for Ukraine settlement based on current front line Vance

The path to ending the Ukraine conflict should be based on the existing battle lines, US Vice President J.D. Vance has said. He described it as a realistic if imperfect foundation for a negotiated peace.

Speaking to Fox News, Vance credited President Donald Trump with securing a breakthrough that could bring Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky to the table.

"If you take where the current line of contact between Russia and Ukraine is, we're going to try to find some negotiated settlement that the Ukrainians and the Russians can live with... where the killing stops," Vance said, admitting that "it's not going to make anybody super happy."

Vance claimed Trump had convinced Putin to walk back his refusal to meet with Zelensky, and that scheduling talks between the three leaders was now under discussion.

When the war is over soon and there’s nothing to post about, what are you going to do with your life?

It would last about ten minutes before some Ukrainian takes a shot at the “occupying” Russians. Then the reprisals start.

It will be Iraq for the Russians.

I am not “hoping” for this, but it seems obvious this is where it’s going.

I wonder where the Russians will go next?

Russia is going to send NORKS as peacekeepers in the occupied territories after the ceasefire.

Putin’s choice:

Option A:

front lines as agreement date

Russian asset return rate to be $4 billion a month less $20 million for each day after July 15th (day of Trump’s 50-day announcement).

Return rate to be cut in half for the six monthly return periods following any Russian Federation-backed agreement breech.

Option B:

front lines as of July 15th (day of Trump’s 50-day announcement)

Russian asset return rate to be $4 billion a month.

Return rate to be cut in half for the six monthly return periods following any Russian Federation-backed agreement breech.

***********

If Putin wants to be ‘bad boy’ again, it would cost the Russian Federation $2 billion a month.

Putin and the Russian Federation ‘bear’ need to be placed on a financial leash.

The path to ending the Ukraine conflict should be based on the existing battle lines

Any peace proposal should lock in the battle lines as of a specific, agreed-upon date — for example, today—to prevent either side from trying to gain territory before a settlement. Without a fixed reference point, both sides have an incentive to escalate rather than negotiate.

“It would last about ten minutes before some Ukrainian takes a shot at the “occupying” Russians.”

That would be unlawful: attempted/1st degree murder.

How will you re-conquer the eastern provinces? Recycle the Milley/Sullivan plan?

“what are you going to do with your life?”

Russians cheat....

Russians....

Ukrainian partisans attack/kill occupiers....

Ukrainians....

It reminds me of a Star Trek episode:
“He’s black...side...white...side.”

Vance and Trump are reasonable with this.

"PIF" is the sound of the Ukrainian state.

The selection of Alaska is interesting. In addition to hopefully making progress on the Ukraine Russia matter, is it possible the discussions might include building that long forgotten land bridge/tunnel between the two continents. As Palin has said on a clear day one can see Russia - 51 miles across water.

“incentive to escalate”

Weapons might be supplied to Ukraine depending on Russian efforts/territorial gains after Trump’s 50-day announcement.

Say:
5 Abrams tanks per square kilometer gained
10,000 155mm cluster rounds per sq. km. gained
1 cluster round per US estimated Russian round fired after July 15th
one F-16 per day after July 15 until Russian acceptance of peace deal terms
