Farm equipment giant John Deere announced this year it is investing nearly $20 billion over the next decade to bolster its US operations as part of its ongoing commitment to American manufacturing.
“We look forward to carrying forward our founder’s legacy of ingenuity as we continue building and investing in America,” Cory Reed, president of Deere & Co.’s worldwide agriculture and turf division for production and precision agriculture in the Americas and Australia, told FOX Business.
The company’s $20 billion investment focuses on the development of new products, “cutting-edge” technology and more advanced manufacturing capabilities, Reed said.
John Deere is building a $70 million factory in Kernersville, North Carolina, which will be dedicated to manufacturing excavators, Reed said.
The company recently completed a $40 million expansion at its Des Moines, Iowa, factory to build See & Spray sprayers, which use computer vision and artificial intelligence to detect and target weeds.

The US needs a freedom to repair Amendment.
Hopefully Trump’s EPA kills off the DEF requirements first.
Small wonder Deere has got 20 billion $$$ lying around...
Just this year they were announcing large layoffs and buyouts at their Quad cities (Iowa-Illinois) operations.
Woke company.
You got that right. Really I bought a Kubota tractor 12 years ago. My brother in law bought a Deer and it’s been nothing but trouble!
I thought that they moved a couple factories to Mexico ...
Small wonder that the company brass tested the wind direction, and will be starting build US factories again.
And if we get a different administration in 3 years, they expand overseas again.
After all, John Deere sees Iceland as a source of money management - they have a location there. But the company PR claims that all they do is earthmoving and something with sheep.
Ok...that was supposed to be really glad.
IOW...tariff threats work
And real tariffs...work even better
I bought a Kubota tractor this year but to spite them. And a Husqvarna riding lawnmower.
DEERE WILL NOT LET THE OWNER REPAIR OR EVEN CHANGE SPARK PLUGS.
MUST MAKE APPOINTMENT WITH “TECH” & WAIT UNTIL THEY SHOW UP.
180 DEGREES FROM THE POLICIES I GREW UP WITH IN THE 40’s-50’s & 60’s on the farm.
NOW-—YOU CAN LOSE A WHOLE CROP “WAITING FOR THE TECH GUY”.
JOHN DEERE SELLS YOU THE MACHINES-—BUT ALL THE SOFTWARE THAT RUNS EVERYTHING IS THEIRS>>>>>>>
I was an engineer at JD from 1979 to 2007; 28 years. It was a period of dynamic change fron the 40 Series technology to the current state of the art.
I have some crazy stories but am proud to have worked there.

John Deere is a traitor. They had it all at one time. To heck with them.
I thought Deere was going all electric products?
SOME FIELDS ARE OVER 600 ACRES. CANNOT AFFORD TO RUN OUT OUT A CHARGE THAT FAR FROM THE BARNS.
Exactly. Your combine gets stuck out on the east 40!!
