There are certain professions where a woman is simply not suitable. NFL lineman is one. Firefighter is another. Both professions require physical strength that the huge majority of women just don’t have.

But I don’t see baseball umpire as being on that list. If this Pawol person is competent and not just a DEI hire, then I wish her well.

Wait until one wears the white hat in football. That’s what the NFL wants. Problem is they can’t get it wrong-no room for error in football. They’ll have to take away her ability to throw a flag and just make her a message.

It's not surprising that she graduated from Hofstra University - that place that 2nd and 3rd tier movie, television, and radio personalities along with 1 or 2 barely known sports entertainers, attended, following the marketing of their one graduate of note, Francis Ford Coppola (class of 1960). James Caan and Christopher Walken were smart enough to walk away.

Their other most known graduate is Bernie Madoff.

In the 80's, the Pacific Coast League had a female umpire, Pam Postema. She was not well respected by men who were former big league players who went on to become major league managers, Larry Bowa and Toby Harrah. She ejected Bowa for arguing with her three times in about a week. Neither had kind words for her. For some reason, they can't let the boys alone and play ball.

Males and Females, Boys and Girls, Men and Women...are different. We just are.

Saying so does not make one or the other superior or inferior. I my view, we men and women are a Yin/Yang relationship, where each can bring something to the table that makes the whole stronger, more stable, and more capable than each individually.

I was a Boy Scout, and I learned a lot, but I would not give them a dime now because they allow homosexual Scoutmasters (and likely open homosexual teen relationships) and have admitted females as well.

One of the things I found most valuable about Scouting was that it was boys only. And that isn’t because I didn’t like girls. When I was of scouting age, I was. obsessed with girls.

It is because the interactions between boys in a group when there are no girls present is very different than those interactions between boys in the group when there is even one girl present.

Any honest boy or man will tell you that. They dynamic changes dramatically because instead of trying to fit into a team and not be the one who can’t keep up, it changes into a dynamic of what any number of boys in a group will do to impress a girl who is present.

And it isn’t constructive.

I see no reason why are woman cannot do this job. There have been a good number of lousy MLB umpires, all of them male. My personal worst was Eric Gregg giving a huge strike zone to Livan Hernandez against the Braves.

I would love to see how the stats show her to be on making calls. That’s what matters. I wish her the very best.

Which is also why women in front line combat units is a really, really, really bad idea. Totally messes with the interpersonal dynamics in bad ways. This on top of the strength issues.

What’s the big deal? She’s there to carry out the wishes of MLB,which based on the results of her male counterparts this season is designed incompetence.
