You never know what's swimming in the waters around North Texas. At Eagle Mountain Lake in Tarrant County, it was an alligator!
The alligator was safely removed from the lake Thursday morning.
"We were trying to get it into the cage last night," said Mike Mancy, who saw the alligator near his dock on Thursday. "He (the alligator) got in it (the cage) this morning on his own."

My guess is that it came up the Trinity from the south. I am just curious as to how it would cross the riprap on the dams.
I think that’s how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a thing. They switched from a baby gator to little turtles.
Good question.
There have been sightings in Grapevine and Coppell as of late.
I wonder if all that rain we received had something to do with it.
They are not on the endangered list. We have an alligator season in TX. One per person a year.
Sept.10-30.
If this guy could have waited, he would have made some good money.
Tarrant is a ‘non-core county, so he could have taken it from April 1st to June 30th.
Core counties are September.

Maybe they just crawl over the spillaways where it is just smooth concrete.
Me too!
Nothin' quite like swamp gumbo or blackened alligator.
Listed as “least concern” in conservation status. They’re hunted in some States. Florida is iffy because of ‘gator/croc’ identification issues.
Likely hoping to self deport to Alligator Alcatraz where he hears the food is pretty good.
Eagle Mountain is a power plant lake. It would be a great place for a gator to keep his belly full in the winter.
Gators hibernate in the winter.

The Football season ends in December.
It’s a piker...
We’ve seen over 15’ in Choke Canyon Reservoir near Three Rivers, TX.....big ole fellas.
If I have a coyote in my yard, I’m allowed to kill him or give my permission to someone else (like a friend or neighbor) to kill him, without a license, and any time of year. I consider alligators to be a nuisance the same way I do coyotes. They’re even worse than raccoons, groundhogs, deer, possums, and skunks.
IMHO, they are a nuisance, and they should be hunted year round without a license, at least for a while.
Yes, during a hard freeze when they have to. But a power plant lake in the south can maintain above average water temps. Great fishing in the winter for humans and gators.
Alligator have 4 chamber hearts. ;^)
Nuisance?
Only when tardos feed them. Otherwise they are shy creatures.
The yahoo factor goes through the roof with unregulated hunting. Far too nany idjits in this country.
Well, the tardos have made it so that it’s not uncommon to see alligators in suburban neighborhoods in Florida anymore. That’s a nuisance.
I don’t disagree with you about the number of idjits, but by the same token, it should only take a year to put the alligators back on the endangered list if we let the yahoos have at it!
