This isn't my initiative- I'm sharing it to help Ed McCray achieve his goal, which I think is worthwhile. I didn't see Song of the South until 10 or 15 years ago, and I loved it. I then showed it to my kid and some friends (they were nine or ten). When it was over, I asked if they found it racist. They thought I was nuts to even ask that- they were shocked when I told them that some people think it is. According to Ed, Disney honored this film until 1986- I honestly thought they canceled it earlier than that, but I do remember seeing scenes from it as a kid. Ed is going into great depth about the history of SOTS, including the thirty years of newspaper strips based on it.

I have a good quality copy of the movie, it is just as uplifting and happy as we remember.

Is it any different than “Gone With The Wind”? Or how bout the sure to be ignored Asian character done by Mickey Rooney in “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”? Birth of a Nation is another one that was very racist.
They need to understand that film is just as much history as what actually happened. Would it look right for Darth Vader not to be identified as a villain since he wore black? Somehow a pleasing soft blue armor wouldn’t get the point cross.
Anyone can play that game. And it is just as stupid any way you do.

I have a sinking feeling that even if this strategy succeeds, some liberal at the Registry will arbitrarily kick Song Of The South out, like it never happened.

I got a copy of the Disney movie Song of the South, and I asked my grandkids to watch it and give me their opinion of it. Grandson was 20 and Granddaughter was 15. They couldn’t understand my question they didn’t see any racial concerns.
