@RepThomasMassie
🚨 The Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader are convening pro-forma sessions of Congress in empty chambers during the August recess solely to block President Trump from making recess appointments. Why isn’t the media covering this?
(Excerpt) Read more at x.com ...
McCain didn’t have much time for Massie. He considered him a ‘wacko’
They could do a lot of things. My point is that it’s nothing new. Anyone getting worked up about this hasn’t been paying attention. And they didn’t seem to get worked up about when it happened to Obama, Biden, or Trump the first time.
Recessing for one day would cause a flood of appointments, and that would cause a backlash that the average person can’t comprehend. It’s not just a handful of cabinet folks. It’s judges, and every other appointee.
People have to understand how things work.
Obama had no probs making his recess appointments in his first two years when dems were running things.
In a nutshell, per the linked doc, the Pro Forma bit to keep congress "open", was never used until Bush 2 towards the end of his term.
The first Congress Obama had to deal with (both being Dem run at the time) did not use it until the end of his second year in office, because they were worried about the Thanksgiving break. Nevertheless, Obama made 28 recess appointments in his second year. None in the first, probably because he got everyone in he wanted. List of appointments on page 9 of the doc.
The press doesn’t report on bad things that help democrats.
So when RINOs help democrats, you don’t see it widely publicized.
The primary problem here is the lack of repub cooperation w/Trump. They are afraid of “doge like” people cutting spending they want to cut.
No recess appointments this time. Fight Schumer and get them all through, that is what we need
“Recess appointments aren’t what a lot of people think they are. They only last through the end of the current session of Congress”
But they can be on the job and get approval before the time runs out.
This is good research thank you. I knew it went back 10-12 years from other comments but interesting nonetheless
There seems to be total apathy on this
Also worth pointing out the deficits and debt would make W admin blush, probably even Obama too. It’s compounding and getting out of hand/
Massie is in the House. They don’t confirm anything.
More grandstanding by a loser.
Could you imagine how much a “maverick” this zero would be if he ran for McConnell’s seat?
Overblown?
The leadership of the Republicans in majority of both houses of Congress obviously do not consider such abuse of power “overblown.”
They are deliberately blocking the ability of President Trump to accomplish what he pledged to do and what got him elected.
This is the act of stabbing President Trump in the back. They won’t quickly confirm his choices and won’t stand aside to allow him to do what he has every right to do.
The President should do everything in his power to get voters to throw these traitors, in his own party, out of office.
I am pretty sure there were multiple articles posted here about this. Is this just now news to him?
I think he’s alluding to the MSM not FR necessarily where we have talked about it
Ironically, Massie was the one who posted about it in the first place so he sounded the alarm a week or so ago you can search my posts to see
Glad he is pointing this out. Their actions hurt Trump and the American people. I hope Trump sees who Johnson and Thune really are from this.
And I bet they are getting paid doubletime and a half plus expenses.
Massie is correct. Thune may be every bit the snake that Mitch McConnell is.
You’re kind of making my point. Imagine how much worse they’ll be if the candidate for a job has to relocate to the D.C. area without having any assurance that they’ll be there for more than a few months.
This is how your government was designed to work. President Trump knows this better than anyone — which is why he has a history of openly endorsing duplicitous @ssholes like Mitt Romney and Lindsey Graham.
Something tells me there is a plan behind this. Notice that Trump hasn’t come out and crucified them yet.
Trump would only by allowed to appoint Article 2 nominees….for two years. He could not appoint any judges. His team seems to be firing on all cylinders without his nominees, so far.
EC
What does Massie care? He’s obstructing Trump also.
Nope.
First use was at the end of the Bush term. You're thinking when the opposing party runs congress.
It didn't happen in Obama's first two years when dems had the house and senate. They "let" O make 15 recess appointments in spring break, 3 around 4th July, and 4 in the august recess.
However, now that Repubs have both houses, they block "their own" Prez, proving them to be the RINOs they are.
See post 23 for link to documentation.
I’m in the KY4th, Massie will win his primary by 16% and PDJT will endorse him again.
Rep Tom Massie has a 96% Heritage Action score for the current session of Congress.
