Daniel Cameron Is Mitch McConnell's Protégé. Do We Really Need That in the Senate Right Now?

McConnell has represented the Bluegrass State since 1985. Why would we want to send his protégé, former Attorney General Daniel Cameron, to replace him?

“Daniel Cameron’s attempts to rebrand himself as anything other than a McConnell lackey are downright embarrassing. Every job Daniel has ever had has been handed to him by Mitch McConnell. Kentuckians don’t want Mitch McConnell 2.0 in the Senate,” said Nate Morris spokesman Conor McGuinness.

Pretty cruel. I just don't think he can win so why not kick him upstairs? I'm thinking SCOTUS. That would piss off the left.

Was he gifted a Chinese shipping company by his Chinese spy wife?

Black Republicans no matter how qualified just cannot win in KY and NC.

So we head him off at the pass in the primary-same with Blackburn. Just remember Cameron is an asset but not in elective politics.

Nate Morris also supported McConnell back in those days. So did President Trump himself - Trump enthusiastically introduced McConnell at a rally in Kentucky back in those days and the MAGA crowd cheered loudly. Time has changed - but apparently it was okay for Nate Morris to support McConnell back in those days, but not for anyone else.

Nate Morris claims he is now a Trump champion, but supported Nikki Haley in the 2024 primary.

Nate Morris also has been radical promoter of ESG, DEI, BLM, “white privilege sensitivity training”, creating employee groups for the trans, etc. Meanwhile, Daniel Cameron was actively and aggressively fighting all of those things - both as Attorney General and then also in his legal career post Attorney General heading anti-DEI, anti-ESG organization. Daniel Cameron has a consistent record on being a conservative - not just on paper, but in action and deed.

Cameron was a very good AG. Actually he might be good in the Senate, but his governor’s campaign demonstrated he doesn’t have the chops for serious campaigning. He let Baby Face Andy shovel crap all over him and did not respond appropriately.

If you can’t play hardball against the Rats, you need to find a different line of work.

Even though they already have - more than once. Cameron himself handily defeated Greg Stumbo - a household name. Cameron came within single digits of defeating an *incumbent* governor with approval ratings near 70% and despite being vastly outraised and outspent like 4 to 1. Not exactly a poor track record. There would be no incumbent to run against with those kinds of approval ratings in this Senate race unless Behsear himself changes his mind and jumps into the race.

Daniel Cameron couldn’t win the governor race in Kentucky, even with McConnell’s support. To think now he can win the senate race is foolish.

Cameron owes McConnell for everything he has attained.
Cameron is not the conservative choice.

I agree on Cameron. He is a genuine conservative. I have no reason to consider him a McConnell “protege”.

You’re just repeating the same talking points I responded to without actually addressing anything I said.

Moreover, Cameron’s fundraising does not indicate McConnell’s network supporting him in either that prior race or this race. So what you said is obviously false in that regard. Cameron was also running against an incumbent with 65-70% approval ratings...you act like it should have been shoo-in to defeat an incumbent with that kind of popularity?

And to just repeat what you chose to ignore as though I didn’t say it the first time:

Nate Morris also supported McConnell back in those days. So did President Trump himself - Trump enthusiastically introduced McConnell at a rally in Kentucky back in those days and the MAGA crowd cheered loudly. Time has changed - but apparently it was okay for Nate Morris to support McConnell back in those days, but not for anyone else.

It’s a good narrative, I’ll grant him, to do this...Morris just hopes he can get away with it. It is quite disingenuous for a number of reasons, not the least of which was his own prior support of McConnell in that same timeline as those he claims it is now a disqualifier...and his own support of ultra-woke policies while Cameron was fighting them.

Most importantly, we need any type of Republican in the Senate rather than a member of the American Communist Party...

Well, he won the KY Attorney General job. But he lost to Beshear for Governor (KY has a BAD habit of electing Democrat governors.)

And Beshear has, and had, approval ratings between 65-70% as an incumbent...that’s near impossible to defeat as a challenger. Yet it was 52.5% - 47.5% - fairly close - and despite the fact Cameron only had a fraction of the funding Beshear had. The race was considered unwinnable by many donors given Beshear’s popularity, yet it appears if Cameron had actually gotten funding to match Beshear and fight him toe to toe, the result may have been different. But one thing is for sure - unless Beshear changes his mind and jumps into the Senate race, the dynamic of having a very popular incumbent to run against is not going to be a factor, and even if he did, the lack of funding would also not be a factor as this is a Senate seat we are talking about that the national party would not allow to slip away.

For the AG race, Cameron defeated Greg Stumbo, who was a household name in Kentucky and very well funded. Stumbo actually ran ads entirely of Cameron’s own B-roll footage...difficult to believe he wasn’t doing that to say “Look! That guy is black!” Didn’t work...Cameron defeated him even in Pike County and other eastern Kentucky counties. Cameron also carried Pike County over Beshear...Cameron performed better than Republicans have historically performed in many counties in governor’s races.

What bu!!sh!t!
Daniel Cameron won his AG election handily.
There’s a large field currently running for CCP Mitch’s Senate seat. I’m waiting to see how it narrows but I’d have no problem voting for Cameron again!

Beshear won bec of the teachers in Lex, Louisv, Paducah n Bowling Green. The supreme irony is that Beshear has underfunded the State’s teacher’s pension for 7 years, his Daddy, Steve, underfunded their pensions for all 8 years of his governorship.
I’m confident Dandy Andy will under-fund this fiscal year also, but the teachers are like crack-addled sheep.
