Trump 28.
I am down with it.
His only child that is eligible to be president is Tiffany Trump.
The legal issues are minor and can be cleared up by the Supreme Court. He can run if he feels physically able.
Amendment 22:Sorry ... Donald J Trump is not eligible to be elected President again.Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Section 2. This Article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several states within seven years from the date of its submission to the states by the Congress.
Deal with it.
I would think that what’s needed is a combination of George Patton and George Wallace-none out there. Churchill did a lot of warning about Hitler just like Trump warned us about the Chicoms. Eventually voters come around but remember Kamala got 48% of the vote.
If we have more Republicans in Congress and Trump is able to get more federal judges confirmed.
The landscape should be different.
The answer is NO! It would take a Constitutional Amendment.
No.
So far Tulsi is there only one with any sense or balls. And not gaslighting us.
A different world?
Wasn’t this a common topic during Obama’s second term?
A little too soon to be thinking about TRUMP ‘28...Or is it?
He does not want to run again and he won’t. So this is just stupidity.
Effectively, Trump is currently in his third term. He’s spoken about it that way. As a symbol, he wears a “45-47” hat, hinting the role of 46.
Trump was robbed of his first term but I think Vance would do fine. His style is different, but in substance very similar.
No. Too old
Vance is every bit Trump's equal in terms of manhandling the press, but when he does it, he also demonstrates how stupid they are.
Well, he’s already run and won 3 times, so this would be his 4th term.
Well, some potential workarounds might include:
1. Running as VP and either having the President step aside or running the country AS the VP.
2. Same scenario but two steps away as Speaker of the House.
3. Overturning the amendment
****
Personally, it sounds to much like a burgeoning Emperor to me, creating a long-term problem via a short term solution. Also, NONE of his kids are qualified to be President. I am not talking about legalities here. They just don’t have what it takes and that too would create a monarchical or empire like scenario I am NOT down with. Somebody mentioned Tiffany, but her foreign born husband presents a problem for me (again, not legally ... Just ethically).
I also think Trump will have aged out of the job.
It doesn’t help that he refuses to groom anybody to replace him. His Achille’s heel is that he never stops being in competition with everyone all the time. Great for him. Not so great (in the long run) for the country.
He can’t be President forever ... And I wouldn’t want him to be.
But being elected more than twice is not one of them.
Start with "being elected". On who or what does this prohibition act?
There are no Presidential elections in the Constitution. The President is appointed (pro forma) by te State Legislatures, indirectly, through their power to appoint 535 Electors. In 1960, the Constitution was amended (unwisely) to give Congress 3 electors.
I suppose that a prohibition on "being elected" means that State Legislatures may not appoint Electors whom, it is believed, might vote for the "wrong" person.
As far as "running", "being nominated", "winning a state", and all the other folderol, none of that is in the Constitution, so it would be perfectly all right for Donald Trumo to "run" and even to "win" a popular vote majority in the 50 separate State preference polls that guide the Legislatures in apointing their Electors.
Now suppose 270 Electors, when they meet on the third Monday in December cast secret ballots for Donald Trump.
Does Amendment XXII prohibit the President of the Senate from counting those votes? Come noon on January 20, does it prohibit any Federal official authorized to administer oaths from swearing him in?
Amendment XXII absolutely does not say he is ineligible to the office, nor does it say he cannot serve. It also does not define "beng elected".
So, lots of questions.
Va ce should run as pres w DT as VP. aft he wins he should resign and voila DT is pres again. By the time dems take it to court and win it will be over.
